Saw this new red banner warning for the very first time this evening after an auction ended with a bid. In my case I adjusted the shipping cost and the error banner disappeared before I sent the invoice ... not sure if it would remain if I just sent the invoice OR if sending the invoice would be blocked without changing the shipping amount ... might check that on the next one.
devon@ebay , kyle@ebay Could you please have whoever wrote the warning correct their spelling ... green arrow. Additionally, can you confirm the following please (on accounts that have Auto-Pay turned OFF😞
-Does eBay send an invoice the moment an Auction ends so that the 4 day time begins for the cancellation cycle if Buyers don't pay?
-The warning states eBay will send payment reminders ... okay, how many and how often and can we get a copy of the message that is sent please?
-If Sellers use the "Adjustment" window and put a value there are their Fees still based on the original shipping amount shown above and then the discount comes off the bottom line for the Buyer OR does the discount come off first and then Fees calculated for the Seller? I've never used that, I just change the shipping amount.

Hey @mr_lincoln! We send out an invoice once the auction is over to the buyer with the winning bid immediately to start the 4 day timmer. As far as reminders we can have the feedback passed along and let you know if we get an answer that we can share with you.

devon@ebay Sounds good and let me know ... although I am a little confused why eBay "might" have issue with sharing with Sellers what they are sending the Seller's customer with regard to the Seller's item that the Buyer is purchasing ... Sellers are referred to as "Business Partners" after all ... but lets see what if anything they say about it.

@spahrsautographs wrote:When you send multiple invoices, it DOES NOT reset the 4 day grace period. We have always sent invoices to buyers. We even call buyers if payment isn’t made within the first 3 days. As sellers, we have every right to take these extremes! This is why eBay requires immediate payment for all BIN sales!
I agree. I have sent reminders usually on day 3 for years now. Never once has the 4 day grace period been reset. If they haven't paid after my day 3 reminder, it auto-cancels on day four just as if I never sent the reminder.
I have gotten in the habit of sending an immediate invoice (once I know they aren't paying immediately) when someone accepts an offer/or I accept an offer that isn't in the pre-pay group thanking them for the purchase and asking for them to pay at their earliest convenience. Never once have I had anyone complain and my non-payers or very late payers dropped off dramatically once I started doing this.

@wastingtime101 wrote:Hey devon@ebay kyle@ebay . Since Mr L already tagged you in to this discussion I will add what I think is some excellent feedback eBay should be addressing in relation to this new invoice change.
On the help page:
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling-getting-paid/issue-invoice-combining-payments?id=4139
Remove this line of text from the bullet points at the top of the page:
- The buyer hasn’t paid for an auction they’ve won, and you want to send them a reminder
Lower on the page in the green Top Takeaway box, remove this from the end of the sentence:
or if the buyer hasn’t paid and you want to send them a reminder.
Those lines of text have caused confusion for sellers ever since eBay made the change to reset the payment due date when an invoice is sent for sellers that use a manual UPI cancel process. Sellers come here and say, "but the help page says to send a reminder." We always tell sellers to ignore that part of the help page since it's a nuisance to the buyer to send invoices since eBay automatically sends payment reminders.
Now that eBay has changed invoices to prevent sending them unless making an adjustment, it's officially counter-instructive to keep those 2 lines of text on the help page.
Hey @wastingtime101! Thank you for calling that out and we will be sure to have those help pages sent over to be looked over and updated.
Sorry for bumping a November thread on a policy that was reversed.
Just wanted to call out that eBay updated the "resolving unpaid" items page and took into account the above quoted feedback. The page is so much better now, having removed the suggestions to send invoices as payment reminders, and having added text that sending an invoice resets the payment clock. Thank you devon@ebay for getting it escalated. Good to see the changes made to the help page.

@wastingtime101 Glad to see the Help page was revised, but the message on the Sold page is still the same as it's been for as long as I can remember. Here's what I think is notable about the wording: So okay, it doesn't suggest sending an invoice again, simply states that you can. Nor does it state that doing so is for the purpose of reminding the buyer, but that is implied because it comes right after the statement that eBay has already reminded them. But the thing about that is, the message says that from the moment the buyer accepts the offer and the listing moves to the Sold page. -How could eBay have "reminded" them to pay IMMEDIATELY? -That just made me mistrust it in the past, so if the buyer hadn't paid by the end of the second day or so, I might go ahead and send the invoice to actually remind them. And of course I didn't know that it reset their payment window clock, because the message certainly doesn't say THAT!

Devon@ebay Could you please pass this ^ on as well? Really the Sold listing page is surely seen more often by more sellers than the Help page, so if the misconception could be fixed here it would be even more helpFUL.
