In the past, plenty of sellers have also reported that buyers would get mad when a seller filed a UID.

Re: New Unpaid item cancellation

As we at at the very end of the world, at the foot of Africa, the last outpost before Antarctica, we can only survive when NOT IF people combine parcels and then only can we discount the shipping.

Our business model has always been to encourage buyers to shop for up to 30 days.

For some time, ebay has been harassing customers PAY PAY PAY.

As sellers, we need to be able to choose what our policies are!

ebay has provided the option to automatically open unpaid item cases after 30 days - which is GREAT - and this has worked well with the above. NOW, interfering and moving all the toys around without thinking - this 3 or 5 day payment insistence DOES NOT WORK FOR US.

Daily meddling and moving systems and tools around - just let sellers choose which functions work for them - after all, we are paying their bills! No sell - no bucks!

A seller should always be concerned about how buyers feel.

You have  no items for sale and one feedback in the past year. Try selling a few things and see what it is like.  Get back to me after ten years or so of selling.

I do believe ms*havisham is using a posting id like many sellers use on these boards.

It is not always prudent or wise to post using your seller id in case you upset someone who may by nature be retaliatory.

Sorry - posted this before I saw the date of the OP

Re: New Unpaid item cancellation

Even before eBay put the new cancellation process in place I had my profile set to automatically open an unpaid item case 2 days after the sale. Although I have had limited unpaid item cases and the process takes  a bit to clean up if the buyer  does not ultimately pay to the buyer it looks like eBay ultimately closed the unpaid item case and I simply relist the item.

Despite the cleanup process I will probably still follow this process rather than using the new cancelation process even though the old resolution process takes a few days longer to resolve.

Re: New Unpaid item cancellation

Sellers could always cancel a transaction for non payment, the only difference is that you can now do it in five days instead of six. You can still wait the six, or more, if this works better for you.

Re: New Unpaid item cancellation

Not sure how much I'd be upset if a seller who did not pay for his purchase got mad at me.

Of course it's a posting id.

I don't even bother to explain it anymore to members who have participated on the discussion boards since 2015 and aren't even aware of the concept of a posting id, but instead choose to embarrass themselves by going  straight for an insult that shows them to be totally clueless. Classy.

Nice, since 1996.  She probably used the first edition released after the BEAT version I tested in 1994.

Again, have to ask, why would a seller be disturbed if a non-paying bidder got mad at him?

The only reason I can think of is so that buyer can make another purchase and not pay for it again in the future?

What I can't fathom is why the OP doesn't just handle UIDs manually? I always get a kick out of people who post complaints about issues that have such a simple solution. Reminds me of Roseanne Roseannadanna.

"Never mind."

Because there are unstable people out there who need to get even when they feel they've been wronged.

I'm not one of those, but I get very angry when I don't feel I'm being treated fairly.

Re: New Unpaid item cancellation

Exactly, last weekend I had a buyer inform me that he was going to be late paying, I had no issue with it at all (also did not know about the change)  EBAY cancelled the sale and I got an email from the buyer letting me know he was clearly upset I would tell him its ok and then cancel.  I looked it up and it did say I cancelled the item, I called customer service (the nice lady clearly wasn't aware of the new policy either and gave me a few excuses).  I have no problem with them doing this but the reason should NOT be the seller cancelled the item !!

This is TOTALLY and 100% ON YOU. As a seller, YOU are responsible to keep up with the eBay's policies concerning the site. YOU should be checking the Announcements boards for AT LEAST the spring and fall seller updates. YOU should have known about the change in this unpaid item policy.

To blame eBay because YOU shirked your responsibility as a seller is ludicrous. You've been a member since 2004 and appear to have been selling on this platform for many years--and you're a TRS. Seller updates should be no surprise for you. You should be expecting and looking for those updates every spring and fall.

It's like not reading your employer's policy manual updates and then blaming your boss when you fail to implement a new procedure.
