Yes, now a seller can cancel if a buyer does not pay. Guess what? Now the buyer is angry you cancelled. smh

If the buyer don't pay, why seller have to wait for them, LOL.

You've been on ebay 14 years. Why would anything surprise you by now?
What's worse is when a seller cancels a sale AFTER the buyer pays! This happened to me a couple weeks ago. No excuse except they didn't know how to ship soap in a flat rate padded envelope. I ultimately cut them a huge break by not giving a negative feedback because I believe in second chances and ordered from a much better seller.

Wondered how this would be perceived by the Buyer - assumed the email to the Buyer says Seller cancelled vs e-Bay cancelled?

I don't understand your complaint. If you're a seller, you can still choose to handle unpaid items manually.
If a buyer hasn't paid within five days, why would you care if they get angry? If you've made arrangements with the buyer to allow more time to pay, just handle that transaction manually.

I do not understand why they would mad at you. There are warnings that go out so if they ignore those plus the invoice, the only one to be mad at is themselves.

Ebay is Pro seller, not sure they care much about buyers except there wallet

I never said it surprised me. But ebay just gave buyers another excuse to blame the seller. My wife has been doing ebay since 1996. Between us, we have seen it all.

Of course it is the buyer's fault if they do not pay. However, they have been used to having many days to pay even after getting an unpaid notice. They will of course blame the seller and this makes it look even more like it is all on the seller for cancelling.

lol eBay has never been pro seller. If they were, we could still leave buyers at least neutral feedback and we would have true seller protections. Just look around at how many times sellers get scammed with forced returns. Buyers can pretty much do as they please.

"why would you care if they get angry?"
A seller should always be concerned about how buyers feel.
You have no items for sale and one feedback in the past year. Try selling a few things and see what it is like. Get back to me after ten years or so of selling.

You can send them a message and warn them if they don't pay by this date, you will cancel to get your fees back.
Buyers are expecting an unpaid item dispute to be opened because that's what's always been done. These same buyers regularly don't pay their items immediately when they purchase them.
At least if you warn them, then you can tell them you warned them when they get all mad and lash out at you for cancelling.

Now that's funny. I'm going to assume you mixed up your words with buyer and seller. People do that all the time.

eBay auto sends them reminders. I am no longer wasting my time on them.
