I was left negative feedback - after refunding a purchase/not shipping it because I found stains on the item. DIdn't want an angry buyer. Despite that, she left negative feedback. To attempt to "please" her, I just sent her the item. Free of charge. Despite that, the negative feedback remains and I am not allowed to leave negative feedback for her. She has failed to respond to any of my attempts to reach out and fix the situation. I don't understand why there is what appears to be an anti-seller bias in some of ebay's practices. It doesn't seem right that after YEARS of positive feedback, one negative comment can bring my overall percentage of feedback down so low.

Can anybody help me with modifying my feedback? Who knows how it works?
Do you want to change the neg you left ?
To change the neg you will have to contact the seller and ask them to request feedback revision and then you can change the neg providing it wasn't left more than 30 days ago.

I'm having the same problem, I shipped out item in perfect condition, proprerly packaged before the hoildays. Some how throught the postal service package got damaged and person waitied till the new year to leave me a negative feedback. I think its time buyers get a taste of their own medicine, that negative button should be applied to buyers as well, Because some buyers are cruel to sellers. They use that negative button as a revenge button. Sellers work so hard and it's not fair to have our percentage drop because of one negative seller.

" I think its time buyers get a taste of their own medicine, that negative button should be applied to buyers as well, Because some buyers are cruel to sellers."
Also known as "petty revenge, "retaliation", or "irrational, self-aggrandizing behavior".

And, again, that's one of the reasons sellers can no longer leave buyers anything but positive feedback. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure the item arrives to the buyer in the condition it's described. Your answer makes you look like a chump.

How is leaving a negative feedback for a damaged item revenge?
If YOU were able to leave a negative THAT would be revenge. The buyer did nothing wrong.

I don't think that negative is cruel. They talked about their disappointment. Your answer on the other hand makes you look like one of those sellers who don't care what happens once the item leaves their hands.
You packed the item, you chose the carrier. The loss is on you. What exactly would you retaliate for? Buyer being disappointed?

I tried but no answer i even wanted to offer a half refund but no answer.

If I were to buy from you, and even bothered checking the feedback, I wouldn't think too much about the negative, but I would be concerned with your response.
Follow-ups are tricky and really need to be used wisely since they are for your future buyers to see how you handle an issue. Maybe the damage was actually your fault due to how you packed the item. Of course it could have been run over by a postal truck, but future buyers need to know you will not run away from the requirement that your items have to arrive damage free whether you stomped on them or someone else did.

I didn't mean it that way, what i ment is that sellers work very hard and some buyers use that to hurt sellers. i tried to give this buyer a partial refund but no answer.

That buyer should get a FULL refund. They didn't get what they purchased.
How would you feel if you bought something from Lands End and it never arrived and they said here, have a partial refund?
I think you should go read the selling guidelines before you sell any more items. You don't seem to understand the rules.

what I really don't understand is how a topic that was started 2 months ago
is brought back up again?

Because posters search the existing threads for content and the search engine pulls them up? Perhaps they don't know the rule this forum's posters seem to have that it's bad to post on an old thread.
I'm not sure what the difference is between starting your own thread and posting to one a couple of months old. The same guidelines still exist. If it was several YEARS old it might be different.

When I see an old thread I sometimes advance to the end to see the new post/question.
Problems arrise when posters (including myself) do not immediately notice the old date and try to respond to the OP who is long gone, or read out of date advice, without knowing it is no longer valid.

SPECKLES..
i am really sorry this buyer did this to you. We are all human---which means we are ALL going to make a mistake once in a while.
I think this buyer is a mean person.
I have had a few sellers contact me about a problem with an item---that they had just discovered. And I told them, thanks for noticing it before sihipment. And I left them Positives---not Negatives.
I
