Negative feedback

Hello! I'm not sure what, if anything, I can do about feedback left for me the other day on 1/13.  Buyer stated that the bottle was very small and overpriced, learned her lesson. The size of this and the term "Mini" was in both the title and in the description, 6ml  .2 oz and 1/5 oz. I don't know why she expected bigger?!

 

Anyway, I look at her feedback and she has left 15 fbs, 8 of which were negative, 3 neutrals. All left on the same day as mine. Currently 2 negatives have been since revised to positive.  Her latest revision stated that "...seller settled the issue". Do you think ebay will do anything about this? She either doesn't know how to read titles and descriptions (or doesn't know about measuring fluids) and/or maybe she's up to something by leaving lots of negs, hoping to get refunded by revising feedback? I don't know, this seems excessive, all those negs & neutrals in one day . She also never contacted me about a problem. Ugh.

I would not bother asking her for a revision because her game is obvious that you will give her a partial.  Do not let her use you too


BEST advice.  And I would also suggest adding the buyer to your BBL immediately.

I think your description is a bit confusing.    

 

It would have been better just to state 6 ml, and supply the actual measurements of the bottle.

I doubt that would have made any difference to the buyer . She's clearly fishing for a partial refund , any ole excuse would have done  . Tulips

Your buyer has learned to work the system to get partial refunds . The two revised negatives are obvious signs other sellers have given in to her and now she expects the same results  from you . This game she's playing  also looks premeditated . I would notify e bay . Tulips

Yeah how about you ignore all of this! Unless you are looking for more trouble here? If trouble is what you want, go ahead and poke the angry bear. ....


1. I do not believe it inappropriate to explain to a buyer that in effect they are responsible for their actions and request what the buyer can do to properly settle the matter.


2. I believe it may be appropriate for a seller to post a polite professional reply to negative feedback.

 

3. In my opinion it is appropriate to contact ebay to report certain issues concerning a buyer.

I've seen ebay remove negs when measurements were clearly listed..

 

However, I still think the description was confusing.

To a honest buyer it might have made a difference . However judging from this particular buyers behavior  leaving  8 negatives out of 15 in one day makes her  highly suspect she is not an honest person . I think the e bay reps will see that point first and foremost . Tulips

Anyone looking at that feedback is probably going to think the buyer just didn't read the listing.

 

I figure a certain percentage of people who buy from me are mentally unstable, impulsive, don't read, etc, and a certain percentage of those people are going to be set off by something innocuous that I did or didn't do, and may leave a negative feedback.  Since feedback means nothing these days, just respond to the feedback, block that buyer, and move on.

I don't see anything wrong with the way it was described.  She was setting perfume, not a bottle.  This one is 100% on the buyer - It's not hard to visualize .2 oz

The listing was confusing, details were added that weren't needed, and details were missing, like the measurement of the bottle. The perfume is in a bottle, so the op was selling perfume and a bottle. Sellers have to do what they can to cover themselves.

 

I'm not saying the buyer is right, but I am saying the item could have been described better, and made more easily understood.  Also, when a listing is very accurately described there is a better chance of ebay removing an unjustified neg..

I would have to disagree with this. Unfortunately there are a lot of Americans who would have no idea what 6ml is, they wouldn't know if they were ordering a gallon or an ounce.... but most would know what an ounce is and be able to estimate how much is in a 0.20 or 1/5 ounce. In America a lot of people are not exposed (or VERY little) to the metric system until college and sometimes not even then depending on degree, and many older Americans never were exposed to the metric system. I will agree the number should have been written 0.20 oz. 

 

Years ago (1970s?) there was a big push in the U.S. to teach metric in elementary school but that seems to have died out, putting students behind the rest of the world if they want to go into a science related field of study. Also a big mistake was teaching conversion in grade school (complicated it way too much), should have just switched over - total immersion, and with use they would have learned converting from metric to standard if needed -  but there wouldn't have normally been a need to convert if everyone was using metrics.

There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

Just got it removed!!! 

I called ebay and the first person I spoke to said there wasn't anything they could do about it, so I asked to speak to someone else. Then I got someone from appeals and they removed it. She realized that the size was in the title, descripton, and item specifics. (don't know why the first one didn't get that but...)


I also put the buyer on my blocked bidder list.

 

If this was someone who doesn't buy perfume much I probably wouldn't have tried to get it removed, but all her purchases were perfume (except for 1, it was for perfumed soap which she also left a neg) so after the first few she should have figured out the measuring system. Then after I saw the feedback she left for others I figured I should give it a try getting it removed. Also, she got another positive today, she bought a 1 oz perfume for $149. plus shipping.  I'm going to keep an eye on how that goes down, because if she's squaking about the size & price of her previous purchases maybe she's expecting a gallon (or a vat even) with this one.

Congratulations! It is nice when correct decisions are made. That does not always happen.

Glad you were able to get it removed.  I agree with others, though, that for a small item like that I would place a coin or something to visually show the size in addition to your description.  Many people are not clear on units of volume or size.  They can see a photo, though.
