I recently got negative feedback they purchased the item on Monday they got it by Thursday same week, item was new in original packaging, they left no explanation of why they were unhappy. I messaged them to see what went wrong and haven't heard back. Not sure how to fix a problem if I don't know what happened. Is this normal for buyers to do this?

I would message the buyer first and ask if there is anything you can do to rectify their dissatisfaction.
At the bottom of your feedback page, you can select, Request Feedback Revision and ask them to change it to a neutral or positive.

I'd wait and send a feedback revision after giving the buyer a chance to explain themselves.

Maybe your buyer consider the negative feedback to be the "fix" for the problem.
