I woke up this morning to a big red donut.
It was a sale from July 24th where the buyer asked to canceled the order "ordered by mistake" ... which I did immediately.
Today's negative feedback read simply "BAD".
As I was researching the order trying to figure out what happened, the feedback disappeared on it's own.
Buyer retracted?
Ebay removed?

Maybe it was magic...

It was all a dream...you didn't wake up yet.
Can a buyer change their feedback without a revision from a seller?
Is this buyer still registered on eBay?...or no longer registered on eBay?
In any case...lucky you....and it turned into a great day for you.

Maybe eBay finally got around to implementing those changes they kept promising. Anyway - yay!

As jamesstamps suggested, check to see if the buyer is NARU. When eBay boots buyer accounts, all of their FB is auto-scrubbed whether pos or neg.
If the buyer's FB page doesn't show a NARU status, then that points towards eBay possibly implementing automatic FB scrubbing when buyer goes through the system to request an order cxl within 1 hr post sale.
Let us know what you discover.

Buyer is not NARU.
Is currently selling.
Feedback left for others is normal.

I've had a few of those. They appear and then are gone quickly. I just thought it was part of the actual seller protections they have stated for years, since it's a transaction that... well, is no longer a transaction because it was buyer initiated to cancel, and seller agreed.

Buyers are getting scarce. Buyers that are still active (Some of them)
seem to be getting bored, Bolder, Nastier.
I had a "Buyer" bugging in the last few days about the stamps he claims are INR from the
first week of March.
Another "Buyer" sent several messages making me aware of the poor
quality of my stamps, But he'd be willing to relieve me of them at a large discount.
The BBL get longer all the time.

Oldest trick in the book. You'd think people would get a little more creative. 🙄

Back when I did coin shows for a living, 35-40 shows a year small and large,
Coin buyers would do that. Insult an item then try to buy it.
I'd usually tell them I wouldn't insult them by asking for money.

No Micheal Jackson's estate removed it for copyright protection. Lol!
Now add it to your siggy line.

I bet my BBL is longer than yours...
As what we sell...it seems 'repeat buyers' are our 'bread and butter' these days.
I have had a few buyers INR after 6 months...LOL. What is not funny is that eBay will with-hold funds of that sale for at least a day without a response from me...good old AI...

That qualifies for an automatic removal per Andrea a couple months ago, but it does not appear that the policy has been updated yet.
