Negative Balance--Help Needed

Today, a buyer requested a return because a component of the item they received was damaged in transit. My account now has a balance of -$315. I do not have the personal funds available to cover it, so the remaining alternative is that the amount of money I receive from any sale I make goes towards clearing the negative balance. I contacted Ebay customer service to ask if this meant I would have to fulfill orders without ever getting paid for them. Their explanation was that, once you clear the negative balance, you apparently are given the amount of money you were paid for the orders you fulfilled. I'm struggling to follow the logic here, so if anyone with any experience with this could help explain the process to me, I'd be grateful.

Re: Negative Balance--Help Needed

What always puzzles me, not just with this person, but others also. They come here after getting themselves in a jam looking for help with their issue. Many times, as in this case, the jam they are in, is their own doing.

So they ask what to do to solve their problem and then don't take the advice.

In this case for example, it wasn't just one person telling him the right thing to do, but multiple people telling him the same thing over and over again. It wasn't complicated advice, sell some items, ebay will take the money until the debt you own them is paid, then you can continue on ebay.

Perhaps they come asking, not because they really want advice, but because they "know they are right" and they just want to blow off steam to a sympathetic ear they hope to find here.

I think the seller didn't want to refund, and ebay refunded on his behalf, which means the buyer got to keep the item, but the seller is still on the hook for the $300. I don't know for sure, just a hunch that is how this whole transaction went down.

It will be interesting to see how long the new user ID he believes he is hiding behind will be active.

@gb58  Your photobucket link leads to your store. 🤔

Re: Negative Balance--Help Needed

That's weird, I haven't even used photobucket in years. Back in the early 2000's I think I did use it for my image that you see on this page for my "about me" page. That was back in the day when we were able to post alot more info on our about me pages.

@gb58

I don't think eBay has "refunded on his behalf" just yet, but only put his numbers in the negative with a Return being opened. I read into it that the item will come home to the OP and that is when the OP has to deal with the refund.

"It's in your signature..."

@wastingtime101

I was today years old when I ever knew what 'Signature' or 'Siggy' even was. (And it's been killing me...) Thank you!

I ticked on mine and it's entirely blank. Is that a great way for me to have mine set up?

I think I fixed it. I'm not seeing it now. Thank you for the help.

Sometimes good to have "no signature" as when there is one, some take it as part of the answer to them, not understanding, or worse,....................   are offended. (even if it does apply 🤣 to them )

I don't use one and am set up on the boards to not even view them.

'Tis true. I always had no signature until I changed my avatar to Varvatos Vex and I added the GLORIOUS! link that goes to a funny compilation video of that character saying glorious.

Some people think I am saying glorious in regards to them having a problem on eBay. 🤦 Rare, but it happens. One time ecommercebytes quoted one of my posts in an article and included GLORIOUS! 😂

@gb58  OK - I wasn't sure if you knew.  When I saw your link though Photobucket I recalled I had used it years ago and figured to check into it again (too lazy to host my own stuff).

There have been some misunderstandings here of that, with people going off in a huff thinking they were being called names.

Re: Negative Balance--Help Needed

I think those who came by to read, and contributed in this thread have gotten far more out of the information presented than the OP.

I think that happens in a fair amount of cases here. Most of the time people just want an echo chamber and not actual help to solve the problem. Solving the issue would involve doing something they don't want to.

How many times does a seller come here complaining about being return scammed or about to be scammed, and when we tell them what they need to do, the OP get mad or ignores the advice of the respondents?  Or the people complaining about feedback or their sales? I mean, most of the time I don't believe people want help at all.
