Need advice on a customer return. Never received return and tracking buyer provided is weird.

Sold a gaming laptop. The buyer claimed "not fit" and asked to return. The return is through USPS. The first time tracking number shows " no access to delivery location" which is very odd because we are a single family house. We have never had any issue with package delivery. Mail man usually just leaves it at front door or by garage door.

The package seems went back to the sender and was shipped once again to us. But this time it shows delivered but to a "parcel locker". Again, we are single family house and there is no such thing as parcel locker. I checked mail box and there is nothing there. Plus, this is a big size laptop, can't be fit in any mailbox.

Because with USPS tracking you can only see the receipt city, state and zip code. There is no information on detailed receiving address. I highly suspected this is a buy scam that they just wanted the USPS tracking to show it delivered to my city, state and zip code so they can get refund.

I contacted USPS customer service. They couldn't see any detailed receipt address either. They don't know anything more than the tracking history that is public to everyone.

What should I do? Please advice, any suggestion, recommendation would help.

I am sorry to say that it sounds like you were a victim of a scam.  Scammer target anyone selling "high value items".   EBAY will NOT protect you if you get scammed.   Scammers know that EBAY will do nothing and they can get items for free.

There are many different types of scams going around EBAY.    Scammers purchase item and open "return request" and then scammer "changes return address" on the label (item gets returned to scammer).   EBAY will force you to give scammer a full refund (purchase price + shipping).  Scammers got free item.

Now that you are scammer's radar...they might come back.   Be sure to add them to your "block list" and never sell more than you can afford to lose.

 If you do a search in the forum for fake tracking scam there should be some information on how to deal with this.  Off the top of my head I believe that you need to get a letter from USPS saying that the parcel with that tracking number did not have your address on it.  That would prove to eBay that the buyer had altered the label and had not sent the item back to you.  Hopefully they would reimburse you. Unfortunately, the buyer would still get to keep the money but they would be on eBay's radar.  You should report the buyer as well.https://spd.ebay.com/RBASellerHub

@superwe

Go to your Post Office, and speak to your Post Master or supervisor at the location.  Bring along your tracking information associated with the shipment.  They can tell exactly where the parcel was delivered according to the GPS coordinates.  You don't even need the exact location, only that the package was NOT intended for or delivered to you.  Get it in writing, sometimes they can even give you a printout of the label(s) used,  and then appeal to eBay via one of their Social Media portals.

If this was originally sent to a Freight Forwarder (usually in Florida, Oregon, Delaware) come back for additional information that may help you recover your money.
