Did you mean:

Need a new eBay store size.

I am (and have been for years) a small dollar, small volume Seller.   Due to the number of items (i.e. currently around 5,400) items I have posted within my eBay store, I am mathematically 'forced' to take part with the confines of an Anchor store (i.e. 10,000 items...listed and/or automatically relisted).  My problem is that the store costs $299.95 each month, which is essentially what my GROSS income is each month.

As I said, I was mathematically 'forced' from my previous Premium store (i.e. 1,000 items....listed and/or automatically relisted).  Which of course has a monthly cost of only $59.95.

What I need is a store that is in between those two system offerings.  For months I have been trying to insert (within conversations with various calls involving eBay Seller Support) the thought of HOW ABOUT A STORE THAT OFFERS 5,000 items (same above guidelines) for (let's say) about $150-$175 per month.  Yes I know my current listings exceed that, but I can manage (using simple math) that and at the same time afford to STAY WITHIN EBAY....which after 12+ years I am being forced to consider leaving.

I completely agree with this and this has been suggested to eBay many times with no results. I too have a Premium Store and would like to increase my store size to something smaller than an anchor store. I don't think eBay is listening.

Re: Need a new eBay store size.

Instead of increasing your store, open a 2nd store of the size you need.

Then you lose all your feedback.

Re: Need a new eBay store size.

If need be, I could live with that....although when I was moved from a 'Premium' to an 'Anchor' store, all of my feedback came with me!  The main thing right now is affordability....at $299.95, the store is affordable...and the allowance of "10,000 free listings" means nothing, since I currently only have 5400 items within my store.

I know that eBay can do it...it's just a case of WILL THEY (maybe not immediately, why not issue a 'kiss' that it is something they are looking to do later this year...or whenever.  And I know that I am not  the only one that would gladly jump into an intermediate store level.

Re: Need a new eBay store size.

People have been asking for this intermediate level store for years - it's such a leap between the two levels as to be ridiculous, but so far no joy.

I would just downgrade to premium and open a second premium store - don't worry about starting out with 0 feedback in your new store - you can link to your other store or have a blurb about your feedback. I had a clearance starter store on my other ID and had no trouble getting started (save you'll have to go through the whole 'new seller' business again, but that doesn't last that long).  You won't lose  FB downgrading - everything, settings, etc., carries to your new level.

Re: Need a new eBay store size.

Many of us have asked for a store level between Premium and Anchor for years.   So far Ebay hasn't seen fit to provide the option.

I vote that they just continue the 50k free listings per month indefinitely.

Re: Need a new eBay store size.

Besides the ridiculous $299.95 you pay each month, you're making things worse by not diversifying what you have to offer. Not everyone is looking for a vinyl record, why not have products that appeal to other buyers too?

I also sell vinyl records, along with games, movies, books, etc. I keep adding new products any time I can. Either way, I don't see how you can offset the fees with what you have for sale, not when traffic and sales are down the tubes on ebay, and our economy is on the verge of collapse.

Even if ebay added that middle tier store you wanted, that still does nothing to solve your problem with slow sales. Find something else to sell along with those records, then you wont be wasting so much money on fees.

Why do they need to be selling to "everyone"?  Very successful businesses have been built here and elsewhere that sell one type of product.  Some sellers may want to sell a diverse amount of products and another seller may not.  There is room for all of us here.

Re: Need a new eBay store size.

I feel like they should just do away with listing fees altogether. If eBay can't afford the server load I am more than happy to host some on my own servers. Server space costs next to nothing.

When did they say that listing fees are due to the cost of the "server load"?

Never, but the logical assumption is it is to stop garbage and dead listings from cluttering the site.  There are many things I won't list here because I am not willing to pay a few years worth of listing fees till I find a buyer.

OK.

While the server farm expense may have something to do with listing fees, the same could be said for FVFs and any other fees we have on Ebay.  Ebay is a service related company.  Along with that comes many different expenses.  the Servers just being a part of that equation.

Chances are if Ebay stopped listing fees they'd need to raise FVFs.  So careful what you wish for.
