Need Help

I sold an item over a month ago, as my normal with handwritten thank you card, tracking, insurance, and a nice gift. I never assume I will get feedback, but do check status of tracking, and let my customers know, "your package is out for delivery today ~ if any issues, Kindly contact me via ebay, Respectfully & sorts.

Item was delivered a month ago, now in Paypal Resoloution lingering is Customer claming they did not authorize the purchase, Yet I check to make sure my customers are verified, and if names and addresses are the same before shipping. If everything is different I cancel, but I state this in my Description, well she checked out fine.

She wants $36 back from me, for non consent of her credit card, and wrongful use of her credit card, I have emails where I contacted in ebay, about her item.  The item arrived in 3 days, a month ago. My question is how do you receive an item, and then a month later wake up and Report me to Paypal??

This is no way my fault,  it shows delivered, if it's buyers remorse, why wait a month.  She could have used her Bank if she is claiming she did not purchase the item,  I want everyone to be happy, yet do not like my Reputation nor my Integrity or Intelligence Challenged. If you can help, thank you kindly  in advance. Stay Safe & Healthy.

Re: Need Help

Thank you so very much,  as soon as I noticed it in my email, 2nd day, I proved that item had safe secure shipping, I take pictures of box, with my shipping label, and yes it showing delivered Priority within 2 days.  How do people unwrap a package, with gift wrapping, the item, with a bow, a personalized hand written card, and a gift, and think it just fell from the sky, Just Because, her shipping notice is inserted in the card all in Organza bag, double bubble, ebay tissue, Big Ebay Round Sticker, fragile labels and thank you lables, and scan me labels. I am perplexed.

Thank you, very much for your quick response, it's most appreciated, please stay healthy and safe.

Re: Need Help

Don't take it personally.......  If someone reports a stolen or misuse of a cc, the cco automatically immediately notifies everyone who has had a charge to the card.  THEN they ask the holder to id their authentic charges and usually it just goes away.  Paypal authorized the shipping and will usually eat the charge if it was actually stolen.  Just be sure you have tracking uploaded IN paypal and that it shows delivered.......

Re: Need Help

You're covered by Seller Protection if the item shows as delivered, which is one protection offered to sellers that is fairly cut and dry. All you have to do is respond to the dispute in PayPal and enter the tracking information showing the item was delivered. It is extremely important that you respond quickly in PayPal, otherwise they will find in the buyer's favor by default.

Re: Need Help

 I am perplexed.

Seller really can't know what has happened in an ebay unauthorized case.

But you can know for sure that it had nothing to do with you personally, nor with your performance as a seller.  It's between cardholder, cardholder's bank, and the merchant of record, usually Paypal.

Cardholder may or may not have been buyer.  Just don't know, and can't find out.

Re: Need Help

The reason they initially clamp down on seller is because they want to evaluate the whole thing for a fraud against paypal, where buyer and seller are in collusion.

Re: Need Help

I thought unauthorized transaction only requires the seller to prove they shipped to the address on the Paypal payment regardless of whether it shows delivered?

Should this case not get resolved by eBay to your satisfaction (and the buyer be reluctant to ship the item back - while wanting full refund) report this person to the FBI Domestic Fraud line (available online).

I think 99.9% of buyers are very nice, honest people, but in case this is a fraudulent INR case, do not hesitate to do this, because if nobody stops the 0.01% from robbing sellers blind, they will continue to commit fraud.

The above nonwhithstanding, is this buyer reluctant to communicate with you? Was he / she quarantined or hospitalized, for such a long time that communication was impossible?Have you tried to reach out to this buyer after the case opened? Some buyers may just be inexperienced and eBay literally seduces them to open cases.  I am always suspicious when a buyer refuses to communicate with the seller and does not first seek some answers to question by contacting the seller. eBay needs to change this entire process and do not allow buyers to open these cases until they made at least one attempt to try to resolve the issue with the seller (with a min. of 5 business days of waiting time, as sellers could also be sick or hospitalized).

I also wonder, what happened to common decency? In earlier times, it was the most NATURAL thing for buyers to communicate with the seller if they experienced something out of order. And scammers do avoid any form of communication, even if there were multiple messages exchanged with the same seller, prior to their purchase. It is hard to tell what the real reason is, without knowing more about this buyer (did he / she do this in other cases, also, so is there a pattern of claiming he / she did not authorize a purchase? eBay should demand a copy of fraud report to their CC company from the buyer, and not just believe anything a person says (they do not believe us, sellers, without written / electronic evidence, so why do they believe whatever a buyer says?).

If the address is verified via PayPal, there could still be someone living in that household who stole the buyer's CC information and ordered something (a sitter or a family member).

Just my 2 cents. Interestingly, I have never seen a similar case on other online selling platforms. eBay offers the least amount of SELLER PROTECTION among all places I frequent.

Best of luck

Re: Need Help

Thank you so very much for taking the time to give advice, it's most appreciated.

Actually, I wrote to you via ebay over 4 times, which is on record, plus, I did the old member to member over and over on several occasions, and called her phone. No Response, No Reply, I have explained all this to Paypal who now has in Resoloution pending, but they are now, not pulling funds out, it's pending her Reply, which she is not Replying to Paypal. Sincerely yours, and Stay Healthy.

Haha - you meant, you wrote to this buyer, not to me, correct?

Thanks for providing the additional information, I also just PM-ed you. These pieces of information make this case even more likely to be a fraud. And to do this to a seller when everyone or most everyone is hurting financially would make this case even more despicable, if she did this on purpose.

Stay safe!

None of this is necessary.  There is one simple response to PayPal:  Give them the tracking number showing that you shipped to the buyer's shipping address of record.  THAT'S IT.

I highly doubt that anyone at PayPal actually reads any of the extensive explanations, looks at pictures, or any of that.  Because the case is decided automatically when the tracking shows that something was shipped to the address on record.

Read PayPal's seller protection policy.  If reading all of it is too much, then just zoom in on the section about Unauthorized Use Claims.  Save yourself the stress and time of elaborate defenses.  And just post the tracking number where PayPal requests it.

Re: Need Help

I've had this happen before and paypal won't refund a credit card charge back without a little fight over it.

I have never lost an unauthorized use claim and have never done anything other than give the tracking number when PayPal asked.
