Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

Hi eBay Community,

I recently received a message from eBay stating that my account has been restricted due to "high risk selling." Here is the content of the message I received:

*Dear treasure.case,
eBay regularly evaluates the accounts of eBay sellers. In relation to your account, we have noticed that your account performance and activities may cause a risk to the eBay community. To protect the eBay community, we have applied the following restrictions to your eBay account in accordance with the eBay user agreement and eBay policies:
(a) Your selling privileges are restricted. Consequently, you will neither be able to create new listings nor revise your existing listings on any eBay site; and
(b) Your payments have been placed on hold.

Restriction reason: High risk selling.

The safety of our community is a top priority for us. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

Regards,
eBay*

I have been a seller on eBay for 15 years, and this account is 15 years old.

I'm unsure why my account has been flagged as high risk. I've always followed eBay's policies and maintained good performance metrics.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? What steps can I take to resolve this and get my account reinstated? Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Janis

What does that mean?  You tried all avenues in which to contact Ebay and no one was able to help or no one gave you the answer you wanted?

There may be no way to get your account back sorry to say.

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

Today i got chat my support. And that said that my account is blocked because on 1 personalized order what customer ask to do. And I haven't get any massage from customer and he decide return it. But ok I don't accept return for personalized order but ok I accept in and haven't receive it yet. But Cusomer support think that is - The restriction is due to that your account has extremely high BBE rate, which means a significant number of eBay buyers have had extremely bad buying experience when transacting with you. And because of this 1 order that restrict my profile and it cant be reactivated.  there is no bad feedback and what happened ? 15 years work go to trash.Screenshot 2024-08-05 at 12.12.40.png

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

In post # 2 I gave you a link to the Seller Performance policy where it will explain the BBE.  It is highly likely that is your issue.  Only Ebay can help you with that problem.  No one here can do anything except give you the information provided in the policy.

See a few problems with your listings.

It says the items are located in the US, but in your description, you say they'll be shipped by Royal Mail, but we don't have Royal Mail in the US.

Shipping, you have Ebay Standard Envelope and phone cases don't qualify for it.

Have a great day.

I did give you the link in my post #2.

In addition to that, check your Seller Dashboard and your Service Metrics numbers.  You will likely see you have had more INRs that you think.

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

Hello, I wanted to ask because I’m experiencing an issue with my seller dashboard. It shows that I’m above standard, but most of my performance metrics are at 0%, including the transaction defect rate Since I’ve only been selling one digital video game key. However, I suspect I'm facing a similar issue with the OP. I'm from Indonesia but ship the code from Arizona where the letter is printed. eBay requires a tracking number, that's why I use an online printing service for mail delivery, and they deliver the mail and I that's how i get the tracking number. What are your thoughts on this? Since I have used these methods for 2-3 years and got no issues until today.

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

You're drop-shipping in essence, then, which is a risky model, since you don't have control over the process of printing and shipping that piece of paper yourself.  You also are skirting very close to the line on the digital items policy, though you might be okay there since you're delivering a physical item, but you have little to no recourse if someone claims it's not as described, so that's worth considering (I see you don't have an active listing).  I'd say you should look for a different business model most likely.

@molouqman

Your seller Dashboard should have 0's.  You don't want to get Defects in any of the areas on the Dashboard.  The goal it to keep them at 0.  Defects = infractions.  On the seller Dashboard, look at each area very closely.  There is a down arrow on the right for some of the sections, click on that and read the info it shows carefully.  This will help you to better understand the function of the Dashboard.

Have you received an email from Ebay saying you are restricted?  Did they tell you why?  Post the body of the email here but black out any personal info.

I don't know what "letter" you are referring to.  Do you mean the Shipping Label?

I see you are drop shipping.  That is something you need to be extremely careful with.  You want your handling time set to give you a day or two cushion in case your supplier is late shipping.  As soon as they give you the tracking number, you should immediately upload it to the transaction on Ebay.  Your supplier should be sending you an email notification that the item shipped and it should contain the tracking number in the email.

" eBay requires a tracking number, that's why I use an online printing service for mail delivery, and they deliver the mail and I that's how i get the tracking number."

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.  Aren't you using a Drop Shipper?  Aren't they creating the shipping label and shipping the item?

What was the issue that you ran into today??

Why is that?  They would just use the return address as their Supplier's address they use to accept returns.

I use to drop ship fragrances for years.  I had a great supplier.  I didn't take the returns just to then send it back to my supplier.  I had my returns shipped directly to supplier.  My supplier would inform me on whatever they assessment of the item was.  I would think this seller could do the same type of process with their drop shipper.

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

I suggested finding something different because they're selling a digitally redeemed code that both they might not be allowed to sell and that causes issues with buyers who claim not as described (code doesn't work, or does work but they just think they can get their money back, etc).  It's a risky business model even if it may be allowed.

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

Thank you so much for your quick reply! I really appreciate it, as I didn’t expect such a fast response. I’ve gone through the seller dashboard and everything seems to be in order. Regarding the letter I mentioned earlier, I’m actually selling a digital code. Since eBay doesn’t offer protection if there’s a tracking number, I’m using an online mail service to send them the file/image of the digital code. They’ll print it out and deliver it through USPS. I’m not sure if this would be categorized as dropshipping or not, so I’d love to hear your thoughts.

The email I received is as follows :

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

My bad.  I did not look at the one item sold that closely.  Thank you for catching that very important piece of information.

Re: Need Help: Account Restricted for High Risk Selling

I totally understand what you mean. I've been selling this kind of stuff for about 5 years, so I’m pretty familiar with the risks you're mentioning. As for the code, I'm the first one to have it and I'm confident it's safe. I’ve noticed that even though there are many people doing similar things, I seem to be getting a different response compared to others who sell more than I do. That's why I'm a bit confused, but thanks for the reply
