Will the next millionaire be someone who produces custom decorative NON N95 masks? Listening to the news I would hazard a guess that facial masks and coverings will be recommended for some level of protection against virus transmission via infected droplets ... and if I know my Americans the hardware store single color paint mask just ain't gonna cut it. Like T-Shirts Americans will want to make a statement with their facial gear ... they may want the Darth Vader look or Predator or a dog's snout, big smile, or some catchy phrase or statement ...
In preparation for this eBay needs to make sure their computer bots are NOT taking down NON N95 mask listings ... if they don't they will be doing a disservice to sellers offering all different kinds of masks as well as hurting themselves with the ability to make more fees on sold items.

I applaud the "deep state" on this one. People who are facing death by helping others suffering this silent and deadly virus need all the help, for free, that we can give them.
"Hundreds of thousands of masks and other pieces of medical equipment seized from a Brooklyn man will be distributed to medical workers on the front lines treating novel coronavirus patients in New York and New Jersey, the Justice Department and Department of Health and Human Services announced Thursday.
According to the DOJ, the equipment includes roughly 192,000 N95 respirator masks, nearly 600,000 medical gloves, 130,000 surgical masks, procedure masks, N100 masks, surgical gowns, disinfectant towels, particulate filters, bottles of hand sanitizer and disinfectant spray.""

Yep, I think I saw that on the News last night ... where my wife works somebody stole 65 CASES of Hand Sanitizer ... now will be tightening the security around their mask sales ... maybe move them to near Cashiers in an effort to stop shoplifters and monitor the number of packs each customer can purchase ...

So we are here with the slogans and the hashtags, to help each other, to look out for others, we praise those companies working extra hours or changing their products, whatever it is from toilet paper and hand sanitizers, to the masks and gowns and respirators... and we say how nice, this is what America is all about to....
Come on! Let's make masks, we can make a killing? Really...?
I can sew, I have a sewing machine, fabric and elastic, and if necessary I will make masks for my family, my friends, my neighbors, to donate to my local hospital, not to SELL for profit and make Ebay and Etsy money (BTW, yes... I also got the Etsy email... make masks, we are happy to collect fees, of course the last part they didn't say.
No thanks!

Re the masks... would it help if the middle of the cloth masks for peeps not in the hospitals if were made of the plastic/cloth table cloths? The ones with the cotton batting? As the middle of the mask sandwich type thing.
Just asking cause I got a few of those I could send some one if they wanted them... just not sure if it would work or not. Cause just cotton cloth alone while it wouldn't HURT isn't going to stop the Covid germs from getting in.
PS I know where you can get gloves (not the kind the docs need) for any one that is out and about in the public working (grocery stores, USPS, uber eats, ect) send me an email and I'll give you the link... I do NOT want to put it in the thread for the numbskulls trying to buy it all up for resale. I ordered some Sat for my house (got 2 in 'essential' jobs so I figured it couldn't hurt em) got em today and putting a box out for USPS in the morning.

No; the wearer must be able to breathe THROUGH the mask, so plastic sheeting is not workable. However, non-woven interfacing has been shown to be a very good barrier for these tiny viruses.

Sellers are selling all kinds of masks in the Business and Industrial category under respirators. 3M 8201, Milwaukee and other brands. These people are getting sneakier as they are avoiding putting the word face masks in the title. Then there are those making homemade masks that are actually unsuitable for medical purposes but people don't realize that they are ineffective. Might as well wrap a scarf around your face. I spent 40 years in community health care management.

Wasn't sure since a few of these are cheap enough that liquids spilled on em were under the cloth after we were done... (lol dollar tree types). Thanks for answering will send them back down to the basement then only had them bring em up when I saw that post about making em for family.

They were hand-made, reasonably priced and ideal for me - I don't sew.
It's quite possible the person making them is an out of work waitress trying to feed her family or pay her rent.

If ebay didn't ban all mask sales, I would have all my tailors busy making custom masks.
Wake me when ebay...nah, nevermind. Let me sleep.

Etsy is actively promoting/calling for those with sewing ability to make and sell face masks as demand is through the roof. The listings all include disclaimers that they do not protect from this virus nor are they intended to. But then, they do not need to.
Some come with pockets where you can put in your own filter and they are washable/reusable. Most importantly, they keep people from buying up supplies needed for medical personnel.
And yes, I could not resist buying one even though we have some custom printed (as in 3-D printed, not custom graphics) ones.
