Will the next millionaire be someone who produces custom decorative NON N95 masks? Listening to the news I would hazard a guess that facial masks and coverings will be recommended for some level of protection against virus transmission via infected droplets ... and if I know my Americans the hardware store single color paint mask just ain't gonna cut it. Like T-Shirts Americans will want to make a statement with their facial gear ... they may want the Darth Vader look or Predator or a dog's snout, big smile, or some catchy phrase or statement ...
In preparation for this eBay needs to make sure their computer bots are NOT taking down NON N95 mask listings ... if they don't they will be doing a disservice to sellers offering all different kinds of masks as well as hurting themselves with the ability to make more fees on sold items.

Good afternoon gentlemen! I hope this finds you well and thanks for coming in today! This thread I think warrants some serious consideration for the near future by eBay's upper management. I have a sneaking suspicion that there is going to be a boom on "custom" facial protection and it would be a shame to see a missed opportunity for Sellers and eBay to offer another piece of personal apparel ... not to mention "enhancing the buying experience".
We're talking NON N95 masks, custom masks, decorative mask, expressive masks, etc. These should be allowed to be sold as they would NOT be shorting healthcare providers of the mask types then need for their protection.
If the ban does not permit this kind of product then eBay should probably take down protective face gear for welding, wood cutting and other face protectors of a non-medical nature because those masks will suffice in blocking infected droplets ...
Here's another thought and situation eBay may be faced with ... lets say the medical profession comes out with a statement that 100% polyester clothing is the best material for protection against Covid 19 infection ... would eBay then take down ALL listings of clothing that are 100% Polyester? I would certainly hope not but in the end have no idea what they would decide ...
Hi @mr_lincoln, we've just made an announcement about this 🙂 Please review it here: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/eBay-is-inviting-sellers-to-list-cloth-face-masks/ba-p/30902747

The ban also applies to non-N95 masks. The fashion options already exist but you don't see many currently listed because of the ban.

If I had skills, I would make a mask with the words "BACK OFF" on the front. I would wear a T-Shirt that said, "keep your social distance" on the front and the back.
I am full of .....ideas......short on the skill to implement 🙂 LOL

This is definitely going to be a thing in the future in the US. It's actually been around in Japan for quite awhile now. When I was there around 5 years ago, I noticed their culture embraced wearing masks when they are "under the weather" as to try to not infect others around them with their cold. Some people actually just wore masks leisurely as a bit of a fashion thing. Many of the stores sold masks with cute characters or anime designs on them.
I've since seen one advertised to me during this pandemic from a company that makes surgical masks with various types of mustache and beard styles. Again, this will definitely be a thing.

You see that is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS ... this is a disservice to Sellers, it is NOT "enhancing the buying experience" (eBay's credo) and needs to be seriously looked at and changed.
This will be an opportunity on many levels and if it is missed on eBay some other venue is going to make a killing ...

There are lots of tees like that currently listed on eBay. Skills to make them aren't required- just a credit card and the buy it now button.
If you've been reading the video game thread I'm not sure why any of these tees are allowed because following Trinton's posts it's taking advantage of a situation.
(My point is that eBay isn't applying the rules equally- at least not the way it outwardly appears. They took down a video game yet there are tons of these t-shirt listings.)

I was there twice in the 80s and 90s and masks were common place for people who were sick ... we were told if we felt ill they would supply them ...

I have a supplier who was trying to get me to get this shirt to sell. But I fear that I will be in violation of the "disaster and tragedy" policy, despite the light-heartedness of it. I wonder if they'll even allow this after the pandemic is over. I think the design is clever and would sell.

I can imagine people with decent sewing skills are going to have a field day with this. A Predator mask would be nice, it would scare some people off lol. The possibilities are endless.

Exactly, there is a small company nearby that is making cloth face masks for the Amish Community ... they are doing quite well.

My daughter is sewing masks for the local hospital but she did not have enough Predator or Darth Vader fabric in her supply, darn.
