Just saw the NEW Listing page layout show up on my account ... ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! I zoomed out to get more of it on one screen just as an overall shot of it. Very large main item pic, details to purchase & Seller info over on the right.

@nuclearomen not everyone had it - I saw it on one account but not on another when using the same browser.
I can only assume either they've ended the test for now or just rotated through to a new group of test accounts, that's why I'm curious if anyone else is still seeing it or not.
Reverting back to the old design of course doesn't address the ad issue - they are still above the description just like they have been for years...but hopefully the next time we see the new design, they won't be.

@valueaddedresource idk, I only seen it on the screens in this thread, I didn't see it on any listings of my own or others I clicked on when doing item search.
In all honesty, the new design, whatever, the price and all that, i don't care...what I do care about is the ads, and on top of the ads the more important issue to me is having the once sponsored scroll revert back to all sellers items, before any other "sponsored" ads are shown below description. They changed that like a year ago if you remember. Talk about helping sellers and blah blah, well that is kinda not helping sellers when they load their listings up with sponsored ads for items not the sellers of the listing. The only way to get a lot of those ads your items is have more items in the category pool sponsored but PL's have their own lot of issues right now, one of being the extremely inflated suggested rates and the poor return investment of electing and percentage on them. PL's performed 500% or more better before they made the change of how they are charged the last quarter.

I'll tell you what what fix the whole mess- just get rid of PL and go back to organic search and just show people what they search for! it would be a breath of fresh air to be able to come to ebay, type something in the search, be shown a list of actual accurate results, and be able to make a simple purchase quickly and efficiently based on the seller and their listing quality.... you know- connecting buyers and sellers..... instead of pay to play

What i do not quite understand is that - a couple years ago when ebay redid all the old code and came up with this new design- they said it was because all the legacy code was breaking and not easy to update. They also said the new coding was simple to change and add to and would result in a better experience.......... What happened?- every time ebay makes a simple design change- the whole platform crashes and sales are dropping like off of a cliff. With every change- the search gets worse and sales conversion suffers

I really hate the fact that there are ads across a listing now right in the middle of the description.
Its horrible.

The new page is terrible. I work hard on my listings. I pay to promote all of my listings. E-Bay's new page now uses my great listing to drive traffic to other sellers who have terrible listings but promote. On the title I place search engine words and the book title. Now people doing a search know what the book is about and go to my listing. Right on the first page is the title of my listing and then 10 exact same listings with cheaper prices. The rest of my listing is on the second and third page. My main competition is from the several "charity companies" that have 500,000 to over a million books. These high volume charity type corporations get free books and special USPS shipping rates. They do a simple ISBN listing and move on . No details, no pictures. THEY CAN SELL A BOOK FOR $4.00 AND FREE SHIPPING. Shipping for most books is $4.35. My sales are down.

Unfortunately this is what ebay has done for years- they find ways to undermine the very best sellers that work the hardest and have the highest quality listings and customer service and bring the best buyers. They would rather have the buyer get a substandard experience while they collect an extra few pennies in promoted listing fees at the cost of slowly killing sellers. we have been through this before countless times and still no good results, yet they continue to promote whoever pays them the most regardless of how bad it hurts the sellers, the platform, and ebay's future.....

I prefer the older layout, but can take the newer one *IF* eBay hadn't removed the feature to have a listing page that was just all the photos. Many listings have more than the 5 shown to the left of the main photo. Now I go in circles wondering if I've gone thru them all. Also, the list photos page showed the complete "zoomed in" photo without have to dance the mouse around the photo. A real lost of functionality!

The account I was seeing it on no longer has it...maybe that means they are going back to the drawing board after getting so much flack about the ads. 🤞
I'm now seeing another test of the new View Item page back on the same account that previously had it. At first glance it doesn't look much different than the previous test version I saw, with the exception of in frame zoom on images instead of "click to enlarge" functionality that was more like a pop out lightbox.
Still have two rows of ads above the IS and description in this test.

They don't seem very keen to "test" taking those 2 rows of ads out do they?
Every time I see ebay use the words improve or enhance I also feel my cheeks clench.

@valueaddedresource On one of my own listings, I'm seeing just ONE row between the "above the fold" section and IS/Description. Progress, I guess.
However, and maybe this is new or maybe I'm just noticing it for the first time, but some of the rows now have a little "see all" link above the row, and if you click it, it opens a new page consisting entirely of sponsored listings.
Promoted Listings Standard, in the early days, with limited placements, provided some real value if used properly. But it's hard to look at some of this stuff and not think that ebay has lost all sense of proportion here. "Striking a balance" is not a phrase the AdsTeam appears to be familiar with.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques I've been seeing the "see all" link for I think about a month now? Don't remember exactly but it is relatively new. It's hard to keep track of all the new and "exciting" ways eBay is finding to cram more and more PL into the user experience.
Proportion and balance are definitely not any part of the plan here it would seem. 🙄

Ads team members will be speaking at a couple upcoming Meet Ups:
Colorado Springs June 28th (Not virtual)
Akron-Canton July 20th (Not Virtual)
Greater NYC Area August 2 (This one is Virtual--- I hope to attend.) I thought this was particularly interesting:
"The topics covered include which sellers and listings are best suited for Promoted Listings Standard and which sellers and products do well with Advanced Promoted Listings."
I've been saying for a long time that PLA is primarily for sellers of new, multi quantity listings. We'll see if they say that or not. But I'd love to hear which sellers and listings are best suited for PLS---I know listings optimized for Best Match are likely to qualify, but I wonder if they are going to focus on which categories rather than just "write good listings".
