On April 15th my account was hacked and put my eBay account around $18,000.00 in the negative. The next day Ebay deleted all of my listings. Those listings totaled around $229,000.00 worth of merchandise. I was on chat with EBay for over 6 hours. I tried to start relisting on a new account and EBay won’t upgrade that account to the same as my old account which was premium. Without me having to pay out of pocket. Even though I was instructed not to list on my old account. I haven’t heard a word about my old account from eBay since the day it was hacked. I cant seem to get any help at all. Has anyone else had this issue? How or what did you have to do to have it resolved. I’ve already lost all of my listings and have to start all over from scratch.

You'd think getting your account hacked would result in purchases from your credit information.
Whoever did this has to know how to navigate Ebay as well as the Revise Listing process.
Anybody you know have a grudge?

Maybe it was easier for the hacker(s) to figure out how to add/revise a listing than to use the abominable search feature. When it came down to it, they just couldn't find anything to buy.
Actually, hackers generally don't want to buy stuff off of sites like eBay, they want to sell stuff. They're interested in making listings, getting customers' payments, and getting the heck out. With all the non-paying customers out there, though, we can only hope it's just as much trouble for hackers to get paid as it is for legitimate sellers.

What questionable link in an email or ad did you click on?

That is a really good question.

With that amount of money being involved I am surprised eBay has not locked down the account completely, or maybe they have, while their investigative people do their thing. I would imagine this will involve the FBI cyber crimes division.
One of the first things I did when I moved to MP was to establish a separate bank account and open a separate CC to connect to the account. Those accounts are used for nothing else. If I am ever hacked one my first stops and calls after the eBay one would be to my bank and the CC company to open chargebacks against every single fraudulent charge against those accounts. Those of course are going to get routed to eBay as the merchant of record.
If you are going to open another eBay account to try to start selling again you may want to setup a new bank account and CC and connect those to the new account. This may not work for those that are full time sellers and depend on eBay for their income but this is going to be a mess to work through and the minute you contact the financial institutions a LOT more people are going to get involved.

Why does a person have to use the highly questionable business practices of Mark Zuckerberg to get service from eBay?
That is one possible option among several that users can utilize.
One can also use the fruits of the business practices of Jack Dorsey, or those of the descendants of Alexander Graham Bell.
If posts on the discussion boards are any indication, the folks responding to the social media accounts for eBay have some authority to actually fix things that the front line customer service reps on the phones seem to lack.

Have you verified that all your personal info hasn't been changed (address, phone, e-mail, payment details) - and once that was done changed your eBay password enabling 2FA with your phone, and also changing your e-mail password? (Plus any account that used the same passwords for eBay or e-mail if you're the type of person that uses the same PW across multiple accounts.)

None of us know why we have to go through Meta to get help on eBay
Most likely because they think they will be in the 'metaverse' and let the AI take over for most of the questions eventually.
Does anyone think they are not building that out now?

Just curious how Ebay is allowing you to sell with your feedback percent. You say you were hacked on the 15th but all those negatives are from over a year ago?

You took a risk opening a new account before the old matter was settled. Until it is, eBay may shut down other accounts as well. It won’t serve you to do so anyway, as new accounts may likely have restrictive limits, as apparently you have already experienced.

Personally, I haven’t figured out why so many companies use FB in this way. Why do we go to FB for help, but have to warn people not to connect FBMP listings to an eBay transaction.
Because most people have some form of social media account and will frequently @ companies in their posts when complaining about them, so the companies have dedicated customer service reps whose job it is to monitor social media and respond to any sort of complaints made on those forums.
I personally find that in general I get a much higher level of customer service by contacting ANY company on Facebook or Twitter than I do by going through their whole "Contact Us" thing on their website. They respond faster and are far more helpful that way.

I have to say the OP is very calm about all this, aside from the listings etc, I would be pulling my hair out over the 18K..........
I have been imported from Australia and this is my posting ID
