I'm just wondering how many here may have multiple posting IDs and am just wondering why?
I've had this ID forever. Though I know some people like to change theirs every so often - I've been made aware of many with 3,4,5 different postings IDs and I don't understand why that's necessary. To move up on the kudo's board? To show more support for a post that isn't too popular?
We actually have a much smaller community than I thought and now that I'm aware of all these posting IDs - I'll be more conscious of who's posting what. I was surprised at the multiple IDs some long term posters have.
If there is another reason people feel the need to have all these multiple ID's I'm just wondering what it is.

-Ditto.
-Only time I look to see what "badge" or reward I have is when I get a notice I was elevated to some other level.
-Other day I suddenly have a "Whiz" badge. Searched high & low to figure out what that means. eBay Community guide doesn't explain it, and says they have some secret way people are badged/rated.
-From dictionary: "...whiz noun [ C ] (EXPERT) a person with a very high level of skill or knowledge in a particular area." Huh?
-BUT then we have the "Whiz" referring to different function if you know what I mean lol.
-And yesterday elevated to Thrill Seeker. Have no clue what that means either.
-I just come here to ask questions, get advice, clarification re: selling.
-I only have one ID used over this entire eBay platform. I don't buy.

I guess I am naive about these things - it never occurred to me that someone might use more than one ID to post, or that they might kudo each other. I never pay attention to how many "helpfuls" a post might have. I rarely give them either. I just read, never notice whether the language from one post seems to match the language from another post. And I have several selling IDs but only this one posting ID.
These are discussion boards, I expect people to post their ideas, and to have lots of different ones. The only thing that riles me up is when a poster, most often an OP, refuses to take responsibility for their own behavior or tries to justify it. Then I open my mouth and say something that gets me slapped. Oh, and being accused of working for eBay or being a cheerleader annoys me too.

Are you by any chance double-clicking on the Quote button? That'll do it every time.Probably...especially as one click never actually brings the bleepy quote up in the first place?
Actually it works fine for me with 1 click but i notice that sometimes the quote is offscreen above the window. If you bang the quote button a 2nd time then that puts the same quote up there again and then the accumulated stack shows up more into the edit window.
I like quotes because they show context except for in the weakly chat where it seems like no one will trim ANYTHING. So you get these godawful 5-deep nested quotes that go on for screen after screen until you finally get to the new material at the end and all it says 'I agree!' Trying to read all that on a smartphone screen is agony.

Madison - I love you for your honesty - but you and I got into it a couple of times when I was more in line with the other side of Ebay is bad group. Black Max was another one who I veered away from because he was so blunt - but didn't mean I didn't give helpfuls if the information they gave was spot on.
I've since come to see that it's just people's personalities and don't take any offense to it. You and others are so full of information - and I've learned so much from everyone.

I think most of us here are Ebay neutral - we try to correct misinformation that's been repeated over and over - although I can say when my sale were in the pot last month - I was more negative.
But most of us acknowledge there are problems - and wished they would be fixed - but defend it to a point as this is the platform that gives us the best sales. The other venue I was on - was going hog wild - but I quit working on that to concentrate on changing things up on here to get it going again and sales suffered over there. No matter where you are - you always have to work on it - we just can't list and let them stagnant as unlike the old days when they didn't have time to stagnant.

I've been spanked for something they *thought* I was implying that had nothing to do with what I actually wrote...

I have 2 IDs - One for posting only; one for selling. I do post/have posted with my selling ID but the two don't intermingle. I don't post with both on the same thread. They don't kudo/helpful eachother.
I don't think about my community badges/ranking. I don't care if others disagree with me (not everyone can be right yanno ). I can't trade in my helpfuls for a new car or even a $100 gift card, so while I know there are other posters with multiple IDs, the thought that they use them to boost the other simply never crossed my mind.

@missjen831 wrote:I have been wondering this as well. There is someone who actively posts using 4 different IDs and I can’t figure out why? 3 have active listings, one was just created. I don’t know if they are giving each other helpfuls but they sometimes post on the same thread which is funny, I always want to ask why they don’t stick to one ID but I don’t want to get spanked. I’m pretty sure there is certain account that is being used to boost the helpful votes as well, it’s been pretty obvious to me for awhile. They don’t post they just give helpfuls.
I don't know why people do this, but it is fairly easy to spot IF they post. Writing styles, attitudes, use of certain words, phrases, punctuation, etc. can be spoofed but most of the time people don't bother. Maybe they think no one will notice, but that doesn't mean no one hasn't or does...

I have one but I don’t use it because I can’t keep them straight. I used it for a few times. My ID is 19 yrs old May 28 1999
