Much of the US is getting hit with bad weather. This would be a good time to temporarily adjust your handling time to protect yourselves from likely INR's due to shipping delays.

Good Advice. as Global warming continues to worsen this will become more & more normal

What? And lose my 10% fee discount? Never!

It sure would & I had to due to our blizzard yesterday, it's just too bad they took away the Handling Time filter, making this an impossible task for those of us who use Offers.

You can maintain the TRS+ discount while extending your handling time by using the Time Away setting. Technically your handling time is still one day but you don't have to ship until after TA ends.
General info below for those who wish to prepare for inclement weather.

Here's the page about Time Away settings:

If you allow sales while away, make sure you read all the exclusions carefully.
Plan to have any auctions or offers end a week before you leave.
There's an option to set up an out of office auto-response within the Time Away settings.
Keep in mind you're still responsible for handling any return requests, claims or payment disputes that are filed while you're away.

I ship within 24 hours but adjusted my handling time to 3 days to accommodate how slow USPS has become with no relation to the weather. If a blizzard is on the way I take time away and close my store.

Just helpfully pointing out that one of the exclusions is SIO's & with SIO's now lasting 4 days, this is a HUGE ISSUE for anyone who uses them. Here's the exclusions list, it's substantial!
Whether you choose to allow sales or pause them, delivery dates won't be updated for:

No a lot that sellers can really do about this except to make sure our stuff is packaged well. Changing handling times isn't something I recommend for a couple reasons. The most important one is anyone with a handling time of 5+ days gets your listings lowered in the search returns.
No seller should be delaying shipment. That isn't good for great weather or bad weather. Sellers should ship within their stated handling time on the purchase.
Ebay has always been very good at protecting sellers during weather events. This time should be no different. Historically they always have. The current weather events was announced yesterday by Ebay on the Announcement Board.
If you are not getting email notification of these announcements, I encourage you to go to the announcement board, click on the OPTIONS button on the upper right side of the screen and then select SUBCRIBE. Then you will stay current on any Announcement that Ebay sends out.

It's not packaging, it's when there's a power outage for 6 days, roads blocked with uprooted trees and nothing including mail moving anywhere in a very hilly environment. That's happened here more than once.
I delayed shipment once for a customer whose post office in her little town was flattened in a hurricane.

For you it may not be. For other sellers that are in the thick of the weather the answers will be different that for those sellers that are shipping current orders in the direction of or inside of a weather event. One would hope that each seller is smart enough to know which group they fall in and how to respond.
I hope you stay safe and warm. Just a few days ago we had 50+ mile an hour winds for what seemed like forever. A scary thing when you are surrounded by trees.

We need weather added to the force majeure clause.

Ebay voluntarily does that for Weather events which is evidenced by the Announcements they make on the subject. Are you seeing something that they are missing?

Um...not sure why this would be suggested. major weather situations are always covered

😁
Then wait for endless posts on here with people complaining that this legal definition should include [insert type of weather here] and doesn't. And of course the posts saying it's supposed to be "Act of God", you godless heathens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
