Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness

This Forum has really Deteriorated to way to much Mockery, Rudeness, Attitude, & Criticism, & Not Constructive Criticism, I have just been trying to find answers & suggestions on how to Improve Matters, Let's Face It, Not Many are doing Very Well at all!!, & they were before including myself!, & Now sales are deteriorating rapidly, & despite the obvious reasons, WHAT can be Fixed here, Like search is a complete MESS, Item Specifics another complete Mess, Listing Positions Completely Unfair to those who do not want to spend even more, or offer free shipping & returns, So if No One has Suggestions for fixing things, WHY even bother with this Forum??

Re: Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness

As a fairly experienced seller, I still come up with questions periodically that need answers or feedback.  So much quicker and more efficient here rather than contacting eBay.

As far as rudeness, mockery etc., some members just don't like to hear the truth about the issues they are having nor do they actually want any sound advice.  Especially when the person with the problem brought the problem on themselves. They just want to complain and that's it.

It is the same on other seller forums and I know one in particular that is 10 times worse for ridicule.  The eBay forum is mild.

Re: Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness

I agree. I remember when the good people were here and would always try to help no matter the circumstances are. Now when someone gets on here it's like they can't wait to pounce on the person who is trying to figure out a problem or is in duress about trying to get a sale. All they do is beat you up, I bet ebay wouldn't like this to much as far as beating up on there customers.

Re: Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness

I can talk a few points: Search, Promotions, Sales, Returns.

1.) Search- so far, I have not had a problem searching for anything I've wanted. I first put the 'search term' and then I click 'Buy it Now' (because I don't want to wait for an auction or guess how much something is) and then I click 'lowest price with shipping first'.

Doesn't matter the item;

Ram Helmet Sticker

Flamingo Laughlin Slot Coin

Bubble Wrap (or sometimes "12" Bubble Wrap 700'" and it gets me to what I want)

1" Velcro

12x16 Manila Envelope

Trans Am Decals

2.) Promotions: They work for those that are selling the exact same thing as many others, usually new (but not always), and usually Buy It Now; biggest reason? puts your items on your items and others that don't use Promo's; otherwise your competition's items will show on your listings (Similar Sponsored Items) BEFORE the written description. So, if you are selling a Men's Large Leather Jacket, and so are 100,000 others; at least your competitors item is not shown on your listing.

They probably don't do much of anything for 'used 1-of' items.

3.) Sales: used items, be it shoes, clothing, jewelry, dishes etc. If you have 1000 items listed and sold 400 last quarter; more than likely the other 600 items are now languishing. Not much different than a garage sale, items left by Sunday afternoon are usually the items that nobody really wanted in the first place; so a much tougher sale (not to mention weather, economy etc.) The best stuff always goes faster and first.

4.) Returns: Ebay is a retailer. Buyers come here to buy from 'eBay', not from you (very often). With that, returns are a thing at retail. Used items sold at stores are usually not returnable; but here they are. As a seller just knowing that 'no returns' does NOT mean ' no refunds'- and then figure the few that are returned are usually a small percentage (1-5%) of the whole enchilada. If you come to ebay and sell 1 thing for $500, you simply need to expect that sale is temporary- for 30 days after delivery on eBay and usually up to 4 months (CC Chargeback). If you DON'T expect it, that is when you become 'shocked' with the issue. Again, selling on eBay, not your driveway.

Re: Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness

Now?  It's so mild in here it's unreal.  Nobody is beating anybody up LOL.  Back in the day, it was expected that if you posted a thread about an issue with a buyer, someone would contact your buyer & bring them onto the boards, just to watch the sparks fly.   That happened on almost every day, often multiple times a day.  That's unthinkable now (plus so much is hidden, no one with nefarious intent can see your info).

This is now the most heavily moderated, nicey nice board I've ever been on.  Ebay or otherwise.

Re: Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness

@meme6253There are some nasty trolls out there. Given the opportunity to  choose between politely telling someone where they could find the info, they choose to say "Only a moron could miss it." If I'm having a bad day, I choose to not reply at all, rather than insult someone. If there's a post that has been answered repeatedly, I go on to another.

I have received invaluable help here. I am grateful to the people who took the time to correct me when I was sharing incorrect info that I received from an ebay rep, instead of the mocking, "You actually believed ebay reps?" Some people are just nasty, and I don't feed into it. The majority here are experienced people who want to help.

ebay has its issues, but so does every other platform we've considered. Ignore the jerks, and take the good.

Because most days, I learn something new that I did not know previously.  And ultimately, that makes "me" (could not vouch for others) a better Seller.

Honestly, I thought you were on a "quest" for a new Badge or something for the forums...5+ threads in less than a week on the Seller board.........did not realize you were having a Seller "moment"/"crisis" or some sort??

If you have an URGENT need - I did not see it in any of your recent posts.  Is there something critical that you need assistance with?  If yes, I am ALL ears - and so are many that frequent this board.  Folks will stop what they are doing and work to help you solve the issues at hand.

Because CLEARLY the folks on this board know more than any CS any of us are going to reach out to.

As for the other types of posts - I tend to stick to what I can control, etc.  We can debate e-Bay search and all sorts of things, but not one person on this forum can EVOKE any type of CHANGE.  Not one.

There are tons of boards that debate that sort of thing - the Seller board is fine if you to discuss search, but there might be other boards that are more aligned with that issue to be honest.

If you felt disrespected by the threads you created, I sincerely doubt it was meant that way.  TRUST ME - when you are being mocked on this board, it is not subtle.

With that said.  I do not think I posted on most of your threads.  If I did and if you were offended by anything I posted, you have a sincere apology from me.  If you think more should have posted - well, the weekends are often a very different set of posters vs the weekday posters, the late at night posters..........sometimes, it really depends on "when" you post.

Lastly - this is a chat forum for selling.  So much is lost in translation from words typed by a keyboard.

There are some really great Sellers (some former, but still Sellers) that frequent these boards.  I learn a lot here and I would surmise, you will agree so have you.

All the best.  Today is a new day and I was serious if you have an URGENT need.........reply to my post.  I guarantee people will work to help you.

p.s.  Hang in there.  We ALL have had sales SLUMPS.  Serious ones at times.  Ebbs and flows on this platform exist regularly.  No one on here can "fix" that for you, but we can empathize and we care, because it happens to us also.

Where do you see this post? Because Khoros would immediately pull it, no name calling, no hate speech, no baiting, no cursing.I actually dont see any "Mockery, Criticism,Rudeness", in the op's previous thread...and I looked. I see many responses from posters expressing their opinions that his idea wasnt feasible..but maybe he sees those responses differently than I do.

And maybe some slight drama and exaggeration going on?

I see cold, hard facts.  If I come here with a problem I don't want people to hold my hand and stroke my ego, I want to be told what needs to be done to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

A lot of the issues I see are posters who get angry when they don't hear what they want to hear, even if what they want to hear is the truth that will fix their problem.

Yes, you see this a lot and, the more people who don't agree with them, the angrier they get.

I reviewed that poster’s response. Didn’t feel it was a pounce at all. It can be hard to interpret intention from the written word, but in this case, the poster was being pretty matter-of-fact. It was not an attack.

Pounce?  You posted on a public board.  I replied.   Not sure how that's 'pouncing'.  But whatever.

This is one of the most moderated, uber polite boards I've ever seen.   You can certainly disagree & I can disagree with you.   It's called responding.   Disagreeing with someone is not being rude.

Uh, where exactly, is this 'pouncing'?

THIS ^^^^  can be considered baiting on a thread.  Wanting to stir something up where nothing exists.  How does this add to the commentary by the OP?  It doesn't.

Some folks come to boards l👀👀king for controversy.  Most do not.

As I posted UP thread - I re-read the threads (recent ones) the OP started this past week.  While I did not "read" what the OP is implying, it does not mean the OP was not made to "feel" that way and I stated before, I doubt it was anyone's intent to be "mean or rude" to the OP - sometimes the written word comes across harsher than it was intended.
