I recently sold 2 items in one day, a Lego Space set and a 1940s murder mystery book. I mixed up the labels. The Media Mail went on the Lego and the First class went on the book. The Lego buyer contacted me immediately. I sent him $s to forward the book to the rightful owner. I asked the book buyer to do the same. The problem is the book buyer will not answer my messages. I tracked both orders and they were both delivered. What should be my next step?

UPDATE:
Thank you all for your thoughtful messages.
To keep happy customers, I immediately refunded the Lego buyer his money. I actually gave him a bonus for shipping the book to the other buyer. I will ponder whether to more time into this. I have written off any profits and feel I will at least have no unhappy customers at this point.
I have never made a phone call to a Ebay customer and will have to decide if it is worth the potential intrusion.
thanks again!
Ken

Try calling your buyer. Their phone number is on your Order record. Seems your buyer may like the lego set and prefer to keep that.
YOu are in a very bad spot here. Ebay won't step in and help as there isn't much they could do, but it may not hurt to contact them and see what they may suggest.
Here are your options for contacting Ebay Customer Service.

If when you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant, type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options.

One step you should take at some point is to review your packing and shipping procedures to make sure that you never find yourself in this situation again.

So the Lego buyer is going to send the book to the book buyer who will now have both the book and the Lego set with no legal obligation to do anything further? I would have just asked both buyers to return the items and then possibly reship them. But I would not expect the book buyer to give up the mini windfall.

Do an eval on max damage, ie lose both items and lose on all monies. Accept that. Then move backwards from that result and do the best you can at damage control. All events on eBay are lessons, good or bad. You are human , you make mistakes. We see a lot of sellers spend a lot of time on things they cannot change, like buyer behavior. Things and money can be replaced, your most valuable asset, your time cannot.

Call them.

Bribery helps.
At this point, you shouldn't be worried about your money. You should be worried about you buyers' satisfaction.

Hi, Ken. This is a pickle. The buyers are under no legal obligation to assist with the correction of the situation. You are fortunate one of them is cooperating.
As for the other buyer, all that can be done is to hope they will contact you. But as they remain silent, it doesn't look good. Chances are you will have to refund the Lego buyer. This will be an expensive lesson.

I wouldn't have asked the buyer to fix my problem.
Now one buyer will have both items and 1 won't have anything but a refund.

My curse is when ever this happens,
the two items that get mixed up are always extreme opposites.
A PlayStation5 and a box of pencils.
A iPhone and a fidget spinner.
Women's shoes and a canburetor.

Wow that stinks - Feel for you - One thing you can do is utilize the phone number for the buyer on the "View Order Details" Page - You'll find that in the drop-down list on your "All Orders" Page. Hope that helps and best of luck

A phone call would make me not want to help. Talk about intrusive.

There is no reason the OP should have to refund the buyer of the book. They are going to get what they purchased. It is just the very nice lego buyer that is getting the shaft by the not so nice buyer that has possession of it.

I find that I cannot print a label if I have not completed the previous pack and label operation. I know that may not work for high volume sellers though.

The program does not work differently for sellers you define as "high volume sellers".
What does that statement mean? What is "previous pack and label operation"?
