Maybe we should call it FaceeBayBook?

Goodbye Facebook? Why some small businesses are quitting the social network

“One of the Facebook policy changes decreased my income from Facebook by 60 percent, overnight. No explanation," said one small business owner.

Re: Maybe we should call it FaceeBayBook?

Good for Facebook.  Facebook was never meant to be a platform for business, it was meant to be a way for people to keep in touch.  There's a pretty big difference between a company using a Facebook page as a way to promote its events/connect with its customers or clients and a company using a Facebook page AS a business.

I make more money on there than I do here, lol. I noticed ebay has a sign in option using FB recently as well. Interesting

Goodbye AOL. Goodbye Myspace. Goodbye Netscape. Goodbye Ebay and Amazon and everything else in time.

But we're all still here and will shift and adapt with the times.

If you watch Shark Tank, Mark Cuban does'nt like investing in small businesses built on platforms like Facebook, eBay & Amazon.  All it takes is one policy change & it can ruin the business.

& for that reason, he is out.

" Facebook was never meant to be a platform for business,"

-----------

Wrong.

YES IT WAS.

That's the only reason they invented the "Like" function.

So they could identify and categorize.. Each and Every user...

so.

If you wished to Pay for Targeted Marketing (as a business)

and be on their pages.

you paid FB ... for.

Let's say I sell a certain type of product.. that primarily appeals to:

Men over 40

Who Camp and Fish

Like Rock (or Country) Music      and/or

drive Vintage Chevy Cars.. on Ford Work Trucks...

etc etc etc

You could pay Fb to ONLY have your ads on Those User's pages.

(instead of paying much more for mass marketing Everybody on FB)

The Finest in Targeted Marketing.

I don't use FB but in the vintage category, Pinterest did send a few sales my way.

Re: Maybe we should call it FaceeBayBook?

I actually do pretty well on FB overall, but that is because there are so many baseball card groups where you join and then can buy, sell and trade your cards.  Prices are lower than on Ebay but there is also no fee involved so it basically evens out overall.  There are scammers over there just as there are on ebay, but they allow groups to be formed where you can report the scammers and post all of the real information so that others can protect themselves from them.  They still survive on there, but not as much as they do on Ebay as buyers and sellers alike share all of this information which is then recorded in files  by volunteers for any and all to review.  It has saved me a couple of times, one being a very large dollar sale.  So FB still has its ability to function as a marketplace for many types of businesses.
