May explain part of why sales are down..

Please note: "But while less traffic due to reduced marketing and poorer rankings in Google is devastating news from a seller's point of view, it's not so bad from an investor standpoint - May noted that eBay increased its take-rate "and enabled revenue to grow faster than GMV" (sales)."

Everyone should read that article.

eBay promised that GTC would improve google exposure, but meanwhile google is limiting the number of search returns for any one site to two.   Did eBay really think that google would give eBay listings increased free exposure because of more GTC listings??

But surely things will get better in October when my 'selling partner' ebay takes their extra MP revenue and puts it into marketing ...sorry, my unicorn just choked from laughing so hard.

Re: May explain part of why sales are down..

Sales obtained thru a search such as google use to be a very small % of actual sales back in the day. Unfortunately, with mobile sales rising every year - I think that many more people use their browser to search for items rather than focusing on a single venue and why sales have fallen here. Unfortunately - Ebay didn't anticipate changes just like we don't often anticipate the changes Ebay makes for sellers.

Google is trying to push advertisers into Google Shopping but Google Shopping can be a real

money pit as it attracts tire kickers at  a fairly steep cost. There is no money for Google by listing

product in organic search results.

If you do not carefully monitor Google Shopping and Google Adwords, you can spend a lot of

money very quickly with little results.
