Restocking Fees & Feedbacks

In the past few weeks I have had several "changed mind" returns. I had one lady who went as far as purchasing a mini makeup brush set and cancelling not once but TWICE. Then she turned around and ordered 2 other things that i shipped out. Well guess what she got them andd..........CHANGED HER MIND. I do the free returns but I feel like I'm getting the shaft because I waste time, money on shipping that can't be refunded, supplies and its just an over all hassle. We have an option to deduct amounts now but of course we all know how that works. If you deduct a % they will just leave negative feedback and ebay won't remove it because "that's their experience with you" WELL FORGET THE EXPERIENCE I HAD WITH THEM AS WELL!  We can't even leave nothing BUT positive which is complete **bleep** because we should have that option to tell our experiences to save the next seller the hassle we've had. Its always about the buyer and forget the seller.

Also, since the "good til cancelled" thing has taken place my sales have dropped tremendously. Why? I have no idea. I just know I'm not getting the sales I was prior. I feel like my listings are being hidden so to speak.

What options do I have here?

First i would report the seller by phone if necessary to cs! at least you should get credit for seller fee`s and all negative feedback submitted from the abuser will be withheld, then block that person!

You cannot deduct for a restocking fee.  Free Returns means just that - they get a full refund and it's on your dime.

If you have Free Returns, you can deduct if the item comes back in a different condition.

Free Returns may not be well suited for your items?  What do your competitors do?

Not trying to tear you down at all, but you talked about a loss of sales so I glanced at one of your listings to see if there was anything that jumped out, but there wasn't.  They look fairly professional  However, the yellow text was beyond impossible to read.  I looked at a few more and saw some were yellow but some were black text.  The black is much easier to read.  Also, if a health and beauty product is expired, then it's not eBay legal.  https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/medicine-medical-devices-healthcare-p... You may want to address that to avoid future problems.

Two clarifications:

  1. If you offer free returns, you need to build into your sales price the cost of those returns and the cost of restocking.  Specifically, you cannot deduct a restocking fee for a free return item.  This is clear on eBay's policy page about how a seller is to handle returns:  "This feature may not be used to recoup market losses on items returned in the same condition or recoup return shipping and restocking fees."
  2. If negative feedback is left because you fairly deducted from the refund due to the item being returned in a deteriorated condition, eBay removes the negative feedback.   This is stated on eBay's Seller Protection page:  "When you offer free returns and accept the return:   If the buyer leaves negative or neutral feedback, we will remove it and will protect you from impacts to your standards."

I would have put the buyer on my blocked buyer list after the cancellations. If you haven't already, make sure you put them on your BBL.

If you offer free returns there are seller protections in place that protect you from negative feedback when an item has been returned as well as the ability to issue a partial refund.

The best thing you can do is to familiarize yourself with the tools and policies that are in place.
