Just a quick poll
Is it only me or are there others experiencing chronic shipping delays?
I notice it now, especially for the South East and PR regions
I suspect it will get worse in other regions soon too.
This is a big deal to me.

Senator Ossoff and Congressman Collins have both been all over the Postmaster General, but little has changed for the better. People are close to their wits end around here. There is literally NO ONE that is not affected by the mail service out of the Atlanta Distribution Center. The postal workers in the local POs are generally really good and helpful, and they are at wits end, too. Delayed packages are clearly not their fault, but they are the unfortunate unlucky people that the public can access.
Current status is that Priority and Ground Advantage are pretty much flowing as they should. Maybe a day later that projected. Enveloped mail either goes right through, or it takes 4-6 weeks. It is obvious by observation that they have been told that enveloped mail is NOT a priority. Unfortunately, 90% of my eBay sales are single cards sent by eBay Standard Envelope. No one would pay Ground Advantage Shipping for many of my items. If they don't fix this soon, I will have to take down all the single card listings, do lots, and hope for the best.
I always ship out the same day if an order comes in before I go to the PO and next day for orders that come in after the daily visit to the PO. I cannot do anything about the situation. Some buyers are choosing not to understand the situation. However, all of this will eventually hit all over the country as they transform more distribution centers.

I have experienced a few mostly in those areas impacted by weather. Flooding in Texas, tornadoes in the mid-west. I have one package that I suspect is totally lost somewhere in Texas possibly floating down some river.

I am not experiencing chronic shipping delays.
I suspect it will get worse in other regions soon too.
Why is that?

No issues for me (Mid Atlantic region) and i have bought form the Southeast, Texas and as far as Alaska. I have noticed there is a warning on the USPS tracking site that is saying delays in the Southeast from weather. This would be a good time to communicate with all of your buyers before you ship to let them know the possibility of delays. Personally i also track all of my sales early each morning (when i have them) and will update my customers about delays, out for shipping reminders and any other info. If you are a high volume seller, form response messages are a great way to send your customers at the time of the sale. Sometimes lowering expectations can keep anxious buyers at hand.
I feel your pain but i think its just the weather messing with us.

atlanta area horrible

Its horrible, just filed my 9th missing mail request yesterday, more then all of last year. My packages are either stuck in route or sent to the wrong state. Watch out for the St. Louis hub, the USPS just stated their shifting 3 million SSI checks from Springfield to St Louis Mo, which is notorious for losing or diverting mail and can't handle the mail they get now.

My mail delivery has always been hit and miss in my area. We had a big microburst and hailstorm earlier in the week my carrier didn't deliver due to the storm. The next day, they picked up at about 9 PM. My guess is they were pretty busy. Better late than never.
Happy Selling

You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Most of my customers live in the South East
I'm going to start warning them in advance about possible shipping delays

Yes, those are things I've done to speed things up
I wish it was the weather
In Reno where I live there is a huge change coming at the end of the year
That will have negative affects on everyone in the region
Here's a site with lots of facts and figures on the USPS

I had to open so many cases in the last few months I lost count. I had to refund one time for a disappearing package that was dropped off with no scans ever. Priority Mail package going 60 miles away took 5 days, another Priority Mail package going from NJ to MA is 4 days out and counting. Packages are coming late nearly half the time.

Yes, that's similar to what I've been experiencing
I'd never filed lost mail claim before, and didn't expect much
But a USPS check showed up surprisingly quick.
So that's nice, anyway.

It's nice to hear that most people aren't experiencing this problem
It gives me hope when I ship an order.
