I try to keep sales going all of the time. I normally increase my discounts once a week by copying the sale and increasing the discount and relauching the new one. I have several sales going on at all times. The longer I have an item on ebay the bigger the discount becomes. This week I did my normal 5% increase in the sale and ended up with nothing on sale instead of everything on sale. If ebay is going to make changes that stop sellers sales they should also compensate them for their lost revenue. When I called support they said it was because of buyer complaints and said overall sales were down on ebay.
It amazes me that nobody is saying the reason the sales are down is because the sellers are being forced to sell other places to make any money and the buyers are following them.
If ebay wants to stop the downward spiral they will need to learn to be seller friendly. It's almost like they don't realize without sellers there is no revenue.

I am in the same boat as bitbeat. I list every day, and most of my listings go up as 30 day BIN, so I, too, have items delisting almost daily and I review and relist. And I'm constantly running sales, typically in the 5% to 25% range, depending on the category. I still can't put all of my items on sale because the price recently changed (the item came off of a sale the day before). For example, of arount 350 items, only 103 went on sale. The rest were skipped because of price. Same for another category. Of 295 items, only 89 went on sale. Sales were already slower (by about 30%) just becuase of the summer months, but now I'm down almost 70% since this change. It is killing my business.

How do you explain ANY of the items that you relisted went on sale??? Looks to me that of the sales I've tried to create since 7/1 thru today, not one single relisted
item that had been in a sale had been discounted..

Its still not working, who ever that bogus account with BRIAN t OR WHOever who stated the markdown manager was reverting back and you now dont have to wait 14 days any longer is either clueless or fake because I called Ebay again and they had no clue what I was talking about and even put me on hold to verify this. When they came back on the phone they said no one here is aware of any change to the new summer promotion and they have to still enforce the new sales not being able to go in unless its been up for 14 days, etc you know the rest. Si I said well a lot of us put auctions up for 7 to 10 days so your telling me we can NEVER put a sale up then unless we put it up for ebays 30 day auction? She said yes. UN FREAKIN BELEIVEABLE! Everyone is loosing sales now and the fat diet coke heads up in corporate have no clue how this is really effecting us as sellers. Ive been spening a week now Lowering prices because I normally run a 18% off sale continuiously. Consumers are attracted to those "RED" sale prices, When a customer walks into a supermarket whats the first thing they see in the aisles that they are atrracked to? Sale tags! WAKE UP EBAY! You guys keep making changes that have made your website so complicated and this is worst one yet! Even putting in a sale used to be 1 or 2 clicks, now you have to go through several pages to kick in a simple sale. You guys wanna keep making it more complicated for sellers that fine, but now your taking sales away from us with this 14 day markdown manager **bleep**! Take it off!!! Now.

Read the update to the policy pinned to the top of this boad as well as an explanation as to what type of sale is OK, and what is not.

Does me no good. Out of a total 60 listings, only 10 can be put on sale.

This is just out of control with ebay, this ALWAYS happens when big corporations try to take over a small business they see potential in. They just keep adding new rules every other day making ebay more complicated for us sellers. I dont get why all thier changes are making listing items and putting sales on items more difficult, I remember being able to put my items on sale with around 2 clicks, now i have to go through 5 or 6 pages just to "attempt" to put in a sale with their new A*&Backwards way of listing the sale. But this is nothing new Ebay seems to just keep screwing us sellers over more and more every day while collecting more and more FEES from every move we make! Lets charge for adding shipping, lets charge for pictures, listings, final value fees.....oh and doing a recent comparison between ebay fees and paypal fees all I gotta say is WOW! Ebay is just bleeding us drywhile they find new ways of charging us more while we make less. Since this sale rule 14 day thing went into effect our sales have gone down TREMENDOUSLY ! This is what I do for a living 5 days a week, if this keeps up the boss is likely to use the sales dropping as an excuse to close down the ebay store and Ill be out of a job. DEAR EBAY, YOU ARE NOT AMAZON, REMOVE THIS 14 DAY WAITING PERIOD RULE WE SELLERS ARE LOOSING SO MUCH MONEY ITS GOTTA STOP! YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE DOESNT EVEN KNOW WHATS HAPPENING HALF THE TIME AND WHEN THEY DO THEY GIVE US "SCRIPTED" ANSWERS. YOU WANNA MAKE IT MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT TO LIST ITEMS AND CHARGE US MORE AND MORE THEN AT LEAST REMOVE THIS STUPID 14 DAY RULE AS WE ARE ALL SEEING A HUGE DECREASE IN OUR SALES!

How do you add the skipped items? I'm still having issues, and about 500 items are missing from my sale. 😞
I just tried to individual add the missing ones to a new sale... And it still didn't work. Help, please!
Thanks so much, Jewel cool-chaos (attached report showing that sales aren't working)

Some of us with big stores, changed our prices based on ebays at the time policy. That policy changed again the next morning. It still affected some larger sellers like myself.
So we are still being penalized for not sitting on our hands while our sales went to nothing. Yet by acting we screwed ourselves?
Im not the only one in this predicament. Maybe ebay can take the entore change back and instead work with the community of sellers to roll something out that doesnt kill our business to then take it back after weve made changes. Im in the same boat of having 14 days to put stuff on sale. Is this my fault? Have I done anything but suffer through all of these changes and try and fall in line and put in work?
I'm not sure you read or understood my post. All I said was, hopefully this increases sales for everyone...and that was in response to Tuni's post thanking Brian for saying they rescinded the wait to run sales due to feedback from the Community. He said that several times, but you seem to have missed his posts.
Taking a post out of context may cause questions such as yours, but if you view what a post was, in fact, in response to, that may eliminate questions and frustration.
Sorry your sales were down, and again, to repeat my earlier post you objected to, hopefully this increases sales for everyone (NOT having to wait to put items on sale)
Good Luck to you.
