I've been with ebay for almost 10 years now. I have an above average rating and I've been very happy with everything. Now this Managed Payments has caused me for the first time , to consider closing my account. I don't know what transpired between ebay and paypal but I was happy with it and I
don't care for the idea of having my personal bank account wide open to ebay. There are too many changes going on with Our Government right now and this just feels like one more way of being manipulated into loosing all control . I'd like to know how others feel about this new policy. And if there are no other options I will definitely close out.

why cannot I opt out out of MP?
Is this a Millennial thing? 😁
I'm just saying ... the op has been on ebay for nearly 10 years. Cant they make an exception for him/her?

well time for OP to grow up and face the IRS like the other millions have to
You can dodge the IRS only so long but why? Be honest and pay taxes and not live with the monkey on your back
And the old I bought it already and yada yada does not work
You sell it and then you pay taxes on it, plain and simple

What about Managed Payments has made you want to quit eBay? Most ecommerce platforms use similar systems for payments. Nothing untoward happened between eBay and PayPal. The split has been in the works a long time and was expected.

When you opened your account with PayPal (your money processor then) you provided the same information to PayPal. Now you are providing the same info to eBay who is the new money processor with an agreement with Ayden.

It's not the Managed Payments that I have a problem with . It's the link to my bank account .
I started out with the same account as a back up to Paypal. There was no problem then linking the account. I've used my debit card with ebay, same bank. but I've attempted to update my ebay account several times now and they can't link to my same bank ? I don't need this extra problem right now. I'm not a volume seller. I sell just to have money to spend on line ( mostly on ebay) .
This is just another step towards socialism.

I never said I was above anyone. Why would you say that to me?

Is this supposed to be the community help team? You do know that making other people feel ignorant will not help you look wiser. You should not assume that everyone is out to evade taxes or be granted favors. With all these changes and uncertainty in the world today, I'm just trying to protect myself . I don't make a living on ebay . I sell things I don't need to buy things that I do need. But I'm sure you will find some way to twist that around too.
Thanks for your ...help?

I never knew any of that. But it just feels like I'm giving my merchandise away here lately.

I have no real advice, but many sellers (and not only small sellers) have become very disillusioned with eBay over a great many things.
Tthe many many issues I see with eBay and it's attitude to sellers and you personally have to do what is right for you.
I used to be an eBay 'cheerleader' as many are accused of but I am finding myself slipping in that role lately and understand why so many have just had enough.
Good luck to you on whatever you decide

I believe the poster was referring to the tax change thats coming in 2022. Previously, if you generated 200 transactions worth $20,000 or more, you received a 1099-K for income tax purposes. After this year, the limit is lowered to $600 or more.
Of course, not all sales will be taxable, i.e. selling items that you owned for less than the original price, etc.

THAT'S what I was petrified happening! Less control than ever...

I don't believe some sellers were evading paying taxes. Frankly, a 1099-K was only generated on sales of $20,000 or more, or am I missing something?

Are you a big corporation, or the likes of Bezos or (musical notes here) "all the rest"? How much in income taxes do THEY pay? They've even protected themselves from all IRS audits now and in the future! Sweet! That's why 'he' went after online sales for the Covid Relief funds. It's also paying for the Infrastructure deal, too. Whoo-Hooooooooo! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
