Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

I have been selling vintage car parts for 14 years and this morning I had a listing removed for having FORD in the title I was told by a US rep today that the 1942 taillights I had listed where taken down because I used the Vehicle Title this time being "Ford" in the title of the ad has anybody else have this happen.  I did read in rules see below.  But I thought this meant the actual vehicle title.  Anybody else run into this?

  • Vehicle titles cannot be included when offering parts

I was thinking it was the Cats Eyes. I have heard of Cats Eyes describing marbles but not in the context of tail lights and blue dots.

Try contacting eBay Facebook for business and ask them.

Re: Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

When I called Ebay and finally got transferred to a US rep she told me it was because of the word Ford in the title when I questioned her on that she stated the listing policy on parts this made no sense to me that's why I got on the discussion board.   I believe she was interpreting the word title incorrectly I think in the rules it is referencing the cars actual title not the manufactures name.  What bothers me is that she couldn't tell me a reason she was I believe guessing what it was to end the call.  In fact, she told me to take the word FORD out of the title and relist I would have been then hit with a second infraction.

@lacemaker3  @gklu1292   That would be it. On Ebay you cannot "believe" anything. It has to be true and fact. That includes if you are grading something, calling something "maybe" new etc.

Here is the title I had funny thing is I had it listed for a month took down and sold similar

1942-1948 Ford Taillamp / Taillight Glass Lens Blue Dot Cats Eye

I called Ebay and got a usa rep and she told me that it was because Ford is in the title.

I did look up on the vero list and ford motor company is on there "Ford" I don't believe they where on there before GM Dodge none of the others are on the list.

As a rule you pretty much always want to say "for Ford" or "fits Ford", as that will not flag you for VeRO's (although eBay still allows them through on rare occasions).

Not just for Ford, but for ANY manufacturer. It's just an eBay rule for VeRO. Even other brand names like Apple/etc.

Basically without that, any of the rights owners could file a VeRO unless you were given rights explicitly as a licensed distributor. You'll often see it with Honda, Nissan, Toyota, etc etc.

Though like >90% of the listings are titled like "for 1942-1948 Ford", I've had eBay allow VeRO's through sometimes because they claim "for/fits must be immediately prior to the brand name". So it's safest to say something along the lines of "for Ford 1942-1948", even though wording it that way often sounds weird as it's not the standard way people usually word their vehicle specs, you're not protected from VeRO's otherwise.

I highly doubt your listing was removed for having the word "Ford" in the title.

This is extremely common and happens all the time (especially in Motors) unless the sellers listings have For/Fits. In this case it wasn't there, so that's literally fishing for a VeRO (no matter what major brand is being sold).

Re: Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

There are 10s of thousands of listings with "Ford" or other makes of cars with brand of car in the listing title. There is something else going on that the bots caught, and the word Ford was not it.

Might be something in the shown item specifics, like type of bulb used, brand or something along those lines. Some of the information shown in the specifics, reads like it is a complete tail light so might not be needed. Do a search of Ford blue dot, check out how they are listed, including the one from Speedway Motors.

What’s a blue dot tail light?

Just what it sounds like: a round blue glass or plastic insert in the center of the red taillight (over the bulb). In traffic, people following you will see a really weird kind of purplish-blue light, almost like ultraviolet, that your eyes will have difficulty focusing on.

I didn't know they're illegal now. That wasn't the case in the past -- in fact you could buy modified aftermarket blue-dot lenses by mail, such as from J.C. Whitney/Warshawsky, so you didn't have to do your own drilling out of the factory lens. Not anymore, I guess.

I've been through this for Nissan and Subaru and Mitsubishi.  You need to preceed Ford with "for" or "fits".   like    Tailight lens for Ford 1942-1948   etc.

Re: Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

Blue dots are legal for cars over 40 years in most states (and motorbikes oddly enough) but that's not what ebay said was the reason the listing got pulled.

Maybe he can put in the title "Fits Older Cars" if he can't put "FORD" in the title.

I once used the word "like" in a title and had the listing removed three times before I caught on.  Bots are funny like that sometimes...

No help for OP, but @krazzykats  the word "like" is not allowed & hasn't been for eons b/c it's typically used for KWS ie: using "like Coach" on a no-name purse or "like Pucci" on a cheap poly dress with a Pucci like print.   The brand after like is KWS.

Re: Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

Hard to be sure here but some years ago I had a listing taken down for a similar outrageous reason. (word in the title that can be descriptive or can be an item) I tried talking to a rep (US based at that time) but he not only told me that they were right to remove it, but that any item with that in the description should  be removed.

Well I stayed up late that night, must have reported 1000 or more listings that had that word in them. When I got up the next day I had an email saying I could repost my item, they were fine with it then. LOL.

Re: Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

The word like in my case was off of a sewing pattern's back.  The pattern manufacturer's printed description on the package said it would "fit dolls like Barbie, Midge, Ken and other fashion dolls."

And it was in the description, not in the title.

Yes, it was a very long time ago.

Have to watch what you type sometimes even if it's printed on the package.😃

Re: Listing removed for having FORD in the title in parts and accessories.

So people can write stuff like "Wheel Cleaner works on Corvette Ford Mustang Chevy Camaro Dodge" etc...I have seen listings like that many of times here.Maybe they are taking them down also would save some search times for sure.
