List 100 items for 5 cents each...How do I use this?

OK, so I got this promotion to list 100 items for .5 cent each.  I'd like to take advantage of it, but I still have roughly 100 store listings I have not used.  I'd like to use the promo listings and then use the store listings later because I'll never get that many items listed before the offer expires.  Is there any way to use the promo listings or do I have to exhaust my allotted store listings first?  That would seem rather daft of Ebay to not allow me to do that.  I mean it would be costing them if I can't use this promo.

Yeah, I'm belittling Ebay for offering me a promotion I can't use, even when it puts money in Ebay's pocket. Yeah, I'm willing to give them $5.00 but I can't. Seems like a short-sighted idea to me.

I give Ebay over $100 a month. I think it's OK for me to point these things out without being lectured .

I received that promo and plan to use it to auction (lol) some books, which as you know are not included in store auction "freebies".

If you have any store listings left for what you are trying to do, you will use your store listings first, then the promo listings will kick in.  For example, I have 221 auction listings left. Listing a book will pull from the promo, because books don't have "free" auction listings. Listing something collectible will pull from the store listings, because collecibles are included in "free" auction listings.

Make sense?

I got the list 100 items for 0.05 cent each promotion yesterday. From past experience, I already knew I have to use my store listings allowance first before the promotion kicks in.  I still had 71 "auction style". I listed 10 auctions and they were applied to my store allowance. I do now have 61 "auction style" available which I can use until the end of the month (10 days). I also have 15 "fixed price" available.

The promotion started March 20. It will end March 24. If I use all my store 61 "auction style" and the 100 promotion listings as "auction style" by March 24 I will have no "auction style" listing available in my store for the remaining of the month. And I will be left with  15 "fixed price" WHICH ARE NOW GTC!

Conclusion: I accepted the promotion (without thinking first) but I will not use it. I will continue launching auctions every days up to the end of the month and I will also launch the GTC because I HAVE NO CHOICE! I cannot afford  wasting listings already paid for via my monthly store allowance.

I was just trying to simplify the terms being used for listing.  ...

They can still list in fixed price format. Each listing is still currently either fixed price or auction format.  GTC is the duration for fixed price listings.  You haven't simplified anything.

Re: List 100 items for 5 cents each...How do I use this?

I did not receive the promo. I do know this. ebay has millions of sellers. When these promos are sent out, the sellers are chosen at random from a certain subset of sellers (for example, only store sellers with basic stores, or what have you.) But the individual sellers are chosen at random. In other words, ebay is not checking to see if you have 100 free listings left or no free listings left. You got the promo. You can choose to use it or not. As someone said up above, she's going to use if for book auctions, because book auctions aren't covered by her store freebies. Smart choice on her part. I don't know what you sell, so I don't know if you can find a way to use it or not.
But ebay doesn't look at whether you have freebies left or not when they send it. They send it to you, and they figure you are smart enough to figure out if its useful or not. If not, not. If you can use it, use it.

Re: List 100 items for 5 cents each...How do I use this?

Since I am mentioning Fixed Price and GTC, I need to clarify that I know the Fixed Price and GTC listing are the same format BUT the duration of the listing is different.
Fixed price or BIN format had different duration options including 30-days (ending every 30 days).
Fixed Price or BIN format does not offer duration options anymore (since March 18). All Fixed Price or BIN listings relist themselves automatically every 30 days (so far) until they sell or until they are ended by seller.

Did you Activate the promo? Usually, once you activate it any listing comes out of it before other allocations. Promos used to automatic, but now they always require activation.

I got the promo as well yesterday. I accepted it.  I still have auctions and fixed price available from my monthly allocations. I listed 10 collectible auctions yesterday and they came out of my store allocation, not the promo.

Or you can use sweet tea's idea and list auctions for stuff you have that doesn't use the free store auction categories.

I'm busy hunting down items that have that criteria myself = )

Re: List 100 items for 5 cents each...How do I use this?

Stayed away from this promo. If eBay is going to cancel and restart the listing at the first of the month, then you are basically paying an extra 5 cents for the listing, since the 5 cent offer has about a ten day life. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how I read it.

Why do you keep repeating this?  Did you read the responses to the thread you started on this subject?

FIXED PRICE LISTINGS GO FOR 30 DAYS.

THEY DO NOT END AT THE FIRST OF THE MONTH UNLESS THAT IS WHEN THE 30 DAYS IS UP

RINSE, AND REPEAT

And this is a good idea... but I do not have that kind of stuff that does not use the store categories and I am not interested in doing something else.  I used to list mainly antiques and high value collectibles but these days are over for me (except for occasional sales which are still in antique or collectible categories).

All I want is peace of mind and continue with a routine that works for me. I now collect and sell postcards and I enjoy it.  🙂
