Left ebay 2 decades ago over scams, I am in disbeleif in how Ebay has evolved to further enables it.

Hello Sorry to start off in a rant but this site is an absolute nightmare for sellers.  First and foremost, the feedback system is now rigged in a way where I'm seeing scammers and nonpayers having scores in the hundreds of positive feedback.  They know you are going to cancel the sale and thus unable to affect their score.  I had someone with a feedback over 200 with no negative feedback, try to scam my via email and cell phone phishing scams involving Paypal.  I wouldn't be so mad but this is happening on multiple items just like when you were a new site.  Competing vendors and scammers own this site and have no consequence for their actions.  Furthermore these scams are monetized by Ebay.  You pay fees on nonpays.  I had to go through lengthy support cases to get my Ebay credit just for one item.  Over my span here I've had so many nonpays I can only imagine what an audit what would reveal in terms of fees on items not sold that I've paid.  I would imagine they pocket millions off of nonpays.  What I want to accomplish with this post?  A) Real consequences and feedback for buyers and sellers who use scam accounts to kill competition.   B) some sort of audit on the fees I've wrongly paid over the years.  I guess just those two, I'm not unreasonable or unfair.  An audit of my account will show the consistency of nonpays and problems that greatly outweigh any benefit.

Thanks

If you were here previously, then I am pretty sure I don't need to remind you that ALL buyers will have all positive FB since they cannot be given any other kind.

Not sure how you've been scammed exactly, but I am also sure you know that ALL buyers have the Money Back Guarantee.

There is no reason for any seller to have to pay FVF when a buyer does not pay if he follows protocol and opens an unpaid item case.

If you, as a seller have wrongly paid fees over the years, why would you do that?

Your message here makes it sound like you aren't knowledgeable about some of the basic rules for buyers and sellers.  I am sure that's  not the case.

Therefore, would welcome further input from you regarding the issues you have apparently had here.

Probably pay you to understand  ebay a bit more.

Accounts can be "hacked" so the feedbacks meaning nothing.

You can recover all your fees on non pays if you file UPI's on them.........if you don't file......how can you blame ebay?  Under the new MP, they don't charge fees until the item is paid for......so no none pays.....

You/we will never know how or whether Ebay finds/prosecutes scammers .......for publicity reasons as well as not wanting to expose their methods........

I had someone with a feedback over 200 with no negative feedback, try to scam my via email and cell phone phishing scams involving Paypal.

Someone with a brand new account with 0 feedback could do exactly the same thing.

Over my span here I've had so many nonpays I can only imagine what an audit what would reveal in terms of fees on items not sold that I've paid

{snip}

Furthermore these scams are monetized by Ebay.  You pay fees on nonpays.  I had to go through lengthy support cases to get my Ebay credit just for one item.

Not sure I understand your issue. If you follow the unpaid item process, eBay credits your final value fees. I have never had to call eBay to get a fee credit when I have follow the proscribed process.

What I want to accomplish with this post

This is a board where sellers talk to other sellers. Nothing outside of that gets accomplished here 🙂

a) Real consequences and feedback for buyers and sellers who use scam accounts to kill competition

"Real feedback" will never accomplish what you are hoping. If scammers were to receive bad feedback, they would simply create a new account and wipe the slate clean. It only takes a few seconds to create a new account.

b) some sort of audit on the fees I've wrongly paid over the years

There is no one stopping you from conducting an audit of your past transactions.

Selling items at fixed price with Immediate Payment Required will stop unpaids from happening. But that doesn't work with Best Offer or auctions.

Some categories are more attractive to scammers than others. The higher the price point in those, the more likely the instance of fraud as well. You might consider using Immediate Payment Required on those items where you are seeing repeated scams.

In case they are not, set your Buyer Requirements at the strictest settings to block serial non-payers. See link below for instructions.

Best of luck to you moving forward.

My only problem with the Unpaid Item system is that you are out the exposure/listing time while you wait for the mandatory 3-7 days ebay gives them to pay and yes I've had to wait 7 days, it's variable. NPB's are a huge problem and they are coddled to for obvious reasons but that means eb is mostly BIN with immediate payment which is fine by me.  Another thing that is a problem in this regards is that if you allow offers, even on bin items, and accept one then there is no immediate payment required either. Immediate payment needs to be an option in all cases so the seller loses no exposure time. Sellers shouldn't be that worried about feedback if they are honest and open really, even a neg or two won't deter people much anymore,  unless you're in the negative numbers feedback. On low fb sellers I look at all the fb rather than one or two, most have had some bad experiences that resulted in a bad feedback, it happens.
