Why is it so difficult for a buyer to leave feed back after they recieve the item they purchased? If everyone left feedback that bought something seller's would have more stars and that means for the buyer that the buyer will recieve what he or she purchased. I am a seller here on Ebay and I find it sort of rude or inconsiderate for the buyer not to leave feedback. I also buy things on Ebay and I have always left feedback as the seller to me has left feedback. My solution to this problem is that I do not leave feedback to the buyer unless the buyer leaves feedback for me first. I do appreciate all of my customers for shopping with me and at my store whether they leave feedback or not, I just wish more buyers would leave feedback .

I do the same.

You sound like a Seller who cares about your buyers being happy and you want them to buy from you again! When a Buyer receives their item they should post + feedback and then the Seller should post feedback as well. Positive on both sides unless their is a problem, then the buyer should e-mail the seller and then the seller should respond to the e-mail and try to resolve the problem. Communication between the Seller & Buyer is important if there is a problem. After 20 years on ebay I have had buyers who didn't post feedback when I sold them something and have had sellers who didn't post feedback when I posted them + feedback for them. I won't buy from the sellers again who didn't post me feedback . You can always E-mail the buyer about feedback but in my experience they won't respond and I just bite the bullet and be glad they paid. I think not posting feedback is being lazy on both the Buyer and the Seller.

Sorry to go off on a bit of a tangent, but your post made me wonder this. I've been noticing more posts of this same topic, and all of them say this same suggestion to never ask the buyer for feedback. One of the reasons is because it makes it look "tacky" or something.
I'm neither against or for that suggestion. My question is though, aside from the whole... the buyer might leave you a negative... is it just as "tacky" for a buyer to message a seller asking to leave them feedback as it is vice versa?
I've been getting an increase of buyers asking me for feedback despite my automated system that leaves a positive for a positive received. Which means that these buyers are asking me before leaving one.

Probably one reason buyers don't leave feedback is because there is nothing in it for them. What difference does it make to a buyer if a seller get one more tick on their tally? There is no guarantee that the buyer will get better service, and feedback shouldn't be necessary for the buyer to get good service.
Not trying to be a 'wet blanket', but seriously, think about it.

I let eBay leave buyer feedback automatically as soon as they pay. I don't wish to spend even a minute dealing with FB. And as a seller, once you get a decent amount of FB it really matters little if you get any more.
Do you ever play computer games where you get some symbolic prize, like a pile of symbolic gold coins? You like that, yeah? Well buyers like getting FB too, and since it costs ZERO to provide it, why not?
Oh, but what if the buyer then leaves a neg?
So what, s/he probably would have anyway. Either ignore it or leave a civil reply and move on.

I remember back in the day when you hit Powerseller or a higher Powerseller star status, ebay would send you an email congratulating you. They attach a jpg of a certificate with the corresponding star color and tell you to print it out in color so you can like hang it on your wall. Do they still do that?

Before that they actually mailed out certificates. Now, dunno if anything.

Yes, but those seem to be the ones that DO leave FB, not the ones - the majority - that don't leave FB.

Well, they think the seller did something wrong OR want something more (for nothing?).

I've read your post more than once and can't really understand several of your points. Maybe there are a few wrong words typed in since the meaning isn't all that clear on a few of them.
First of all, feedback is voluntary. If it were required, I imagine you and I would both have more, but also more bad feedback. Feedback for a seller isn't always good. For anyone with lower numbers of feedback, a negative will stick out.
I think you state you always give a seller feedback on a purchase if they have left it for you, but then you also say you don't give a buyer feedback unless they give it to you first. This is a standoff for both parties, you can't have it both ways.
If you feel it is rude and inconsiderate for a buyer not to give feedback, it can also be true that a buyer may feel the same way about a seller.
Sell things, give good customer service, and let feedback fall as it may. We are here to make money (at least I am) and not to collect feedback. I can't buy food with that.
I realize I have a lot of feedback on this ID, but my other one doesn't, and that's fine too.
