Leaving feedback as a seller

I am a long time eBay seller and buyer, and when sellers wait to see if I've left them feedback before leaving feedback from my purchase it really makes me mad.  Feedback as a seller means, the seller leaves feedback about the transaction, i.e., paid promptly, answered questions quickly, etc.  The feedback should be left for the buyer as soon as the seller receives payment or at least as soon as the item is shipped.

Come on sellers, you can even set up automatic feedback's and you don't have to do a darn thing.

I find it ironic, but not surprising, that a person complaining about not receiving feedback has actually received more than they've given out. What's up with that?

Also, since you're a long-time seller, you surely already know that:

1) feedback is a voluntary processs

2) buyers can screw a seller over in many ways after paying

3) being able to give only positive feedback to buyers makes the feedback less than useful.

You have a nice day.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

Some people put a value on FB some don't.  Just don't know which buyer or  seller does or doesn't - so they all get one from me.

But I'd bet you a wooden nickel that if you had a zero feedback score as either  a buyer or seller you wouldn't be doing a happy dance.

What kind of "catch up" does eBay need to play?

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

I have alway's left feedback immediately for buyers, But now I am waiting until Ii get feedback, Due to a recent increase in Buyers who are also sellers leaving BOGUS feedback or threatening bad feedback, I dont know what is going on , but I am not offering great feedback, just to get stabbed in the back, I think maybe other sellers are trying to take out their competition, But It is a NEW LOW!

@bigdeals.etc

< if they [sellers] have issues for receiving anything lower than 88% >

Just to make sure there's no misunderstanding, I am not a seller.  I have zero feedback as a seller.  I was talking only about my feedback as a buyer, the received/given ratio.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

Sellers leaving feedback is useless and stupid if sellers are not allowed to leave negatives for terrorist buyers and scammers.  I would very much like to look at a buyers feedback, see that 10 sellers say she is a pain in the butt and cancel their order. 98%+ of buyers are great. But 1-2% are just outright bad people.

I just bought a coffee in my local gas station. I paid for it. Do I get a feedback? Where's my feedback, where's my feedback. Give me a positive feedback for buying your coffee or I am going to give you a negative feedback.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

What is the point of a seller withholding feedback for a buyer until he's receive FB from the buyer?

His choices are positive feedback or no feedback.

Leaving positive FB first doesn't change anything from the perspective of either the seller or the buyer.

Evidently, there are buyers who value FB very highly and bristle if they do not receive it.

It doesn't hurt anyone or anything for a seller to just routinely leave FB first.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

I give buyers feedback when I get around to it. Only about 1 in 10 buyers leave it these days, so only about 1 in 10 should even give a **bleep**.

Eventually I get around to leaving feedback for all my buyers, and all my sellers. .. EXCEPT if a seller "reminds me" then forget it.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

Feedback is intended for rating the actual purchase transaction. If a buyer has earned their feedback by paying promptly, etc. then they deserve their feedback and provide a prompt response. What happens down the road cannot be predicted and is inconsequential to the actual transaction since the feedback for buyers cannot be negative nor is it intended to rate buyer behavior, honesty, or integrity after the purchase. The feedback a buyer leaves for you is at their discretion, and too, for rating a seller's customer service, performance, communication etc. It's bothersome to me to see those who play "feedback ransom" and state that they''ll leave positive feedback once it's been received: pointless!!! Just my two pennies......

"I just bought a coffee in my local gas station. I paid for it. Do I get a feedback? Where's my feedback, where's my feedback. "

Assuming the clerk told you "thank you, have a nice day" or something similar, thats your feedback right there. And thats all seller-to-buyer feedback really is, a "thanks for your purchase". I never understood why some sellers want to play games over it.

only if seller subscribes to seller manager pro can feedback be left automatically, otherwise seller needs to manually leave it.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

@texasfredi

I am old school as well. A buyers responsibility is complete upon on payment and I leave feedback automatically on payment.

The rest is up to me as a seller. The buyer has no obligation.

That said, buyer FB has lots its value. Buyer FB, like sellers, was used in the early days to build trust in a 1-1 buying and selling marketplace. eBay no longer really views there model as that kind of market. Everything is geared toward creating a buying experience that replicates Amazon or Walmart.

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

You have RECEIVED more feedback than you have LEFT.........so uh why did you not leave all those 346 people feedback....why only 339....so those other 7 people did not deserve it?

Re: Leaving feedback as a seller

I see no point to leave feedbacks to buyers at all.
Since eBay changed feedback thing, seller could no longer leave negative feedback to buyers, this makes it no sense at all for seller to leave feedbacks.
Buyers for sure would have 100% good feedback because no one could give negative. so What's the point for sellers to leave feedbacks ?

Besides, the numnbers of scammers, abusers are growing exponentially due to the overwhelming buyer protection, credit card chargeback, buyers already have way over the top protections. Buyers don't need this redundant honor.

Buyers , good or bad, could always buy, feedbacks are just redundant, useless, and mean nothing.
