I already have buyers asking 'can't you just ship it for cheap in an envelope' when they don't see first class shipping in a listing. 🙄
Good luck with the big change everyone!
Change your first class listings now, since the next shipping day is Monday, after those services have changed.

Agreed but note that USPS has officially stated that label bearing the First Class Package designation will be accepted until September 30th.
If you use Calculated shipping eBay has stated that until August 9th listing that show First Class Package will still be calculated correctly (labels will print as Ground Advantage). After the 30 day period my assumption is that Calculated shipping will not work correctly if you have not changed the service name by then.

But, clearly Ebay is changing it automatically, where it matters. I am not at all convinced that any further action is necessary.
eBay has specifically stated that the label purchase process would be updated immediately, and that Parcel Select Ground listings will be changed automatically by eBay, but that sellers must manually change over their listings that offer First Class. After 30 days, those listings will probably say the dreaded "Shipping not specified."

Only "parcel select/ground advantage".
And it still let's you select "first class".
That doesn't make sense.
Somebody at eBay thought it would be a good idea to combine the old and new names, but this has just caused confusion. For now, if you want Ground Advantage, then "Parcel Select/Ground Advantage" is what you should choose.

I guess I'll find out. I've seen similar 'busy work' scenarios countless times over the decades & they always seem to magically figure out a way to deal with it. Plus I saw that the announcement said you have 30 days to do it LOL, when it wasn't even avl to do (b/c of course it wasn't, the product didn't exist yet).

Buyers don't even read the descriptions... 🙂 I'm not worried they dig deep enough into the listing to notice 'First Class' now shows as 'Standard Shipping / Parcel Select / Ground Advantage'.
At least it was a 30 second task to updated my ~350 listings from First Class to Ground Advantage today.

Thank you!
One last question for you (or anyone else).
Do I have to go and revise every single listing from "first class" to "parcel select/ground advantage" or is it safe to assume that ebay will be automatically changing that for me?

eBay has stated that they will NOT change First Class in your listings to Ground Advantage, and that this must be done "manually."

I see both of them available for an item that sold today also. I guess that today being THE date of the switchover, they're still offering both, but tomorrow First Class will be gone?

Just wondering what will happen if I don't change it? It will say "first class" in the listing but ship ground advantage? Will they remove the listing? Just wondering what will happen?

My best guess is that it will show "Shipping not specified."

If you use Business Policy you just update your policy from First Class to GA. Boom. Done.
And… this is probably why they tried (again) to make sure sellers were using Business Policies.

@bw14850 wrote:Are you seeing a price increase with Ground Advantage?
for example I am seeing
5 oz package
First Class .. $5.40 - $5.85
Ground Advantage .. $6.99 - $9.03
Can this be true or is there a glitch in the app?
It's a glitch. The price range of $6.99-$9.03 is the OLD prices for Parcel Select Ground. The new online prices for up to 15.999 ounces are the same as yesterday's prices for First Class packages. Looks like eBay has to do some work on the listing form. But I've seen reports that the listing itself will show the correct, new prices.
Yes it's a "glitch" what you see when you are creating the listing is different than what the buyer sees when they are looking at the listing. Example for one of the items I have listed this is what I saw when I setup the listing and the second shot is what I actually see when I look at the listing.

I have mine already changed (except the large bunch I missed... I'm watching the sales to see what's not correct for shipping), to economy and standard. So the Economy is "cheap in an envelope" (or rather ESE for banknotes and stamps), Standard is what FC was before.
I'm not bothering with whatever the services call themselves, that seems to be likely to get changed... I've got too many listings with too many different prices of shipping to be changing all these all the time.

For now, when I do a shipping label, it let's me choose "First Class" or "Ground Advantage".
The 4 oz., 8 oz., 12 oz. and 15 oz. prices are exactly the same.
Anything more than 1 lb. the First Class option goes away.
But, when you choose; it will NOT work (1st Class) and you will be 'forced' to use the GA; which is really no big deal.....

I was able to change all 550+ listings to "USPS" *(period) instead of stating whether items will go "USPS 1st Class" "USPS First Class" (yes, I apparently wrote them both ways in my description) and "USPS Priority"
Now, when USPS changes something again (we are not making ALL items King Fred Super Priority)...
I will be good to go for eons to come.
