Lame buyer negative feedbacks left for sellers

Out of all the negative feedbacks you see on sellers’ pages, what percentage of them do you feel are lame ones that should never have been left or are undeserved?

Like this one negative I stumbled upon this seller’s page. It says “Never received item, it must have got stolen. The item took weeks to come.” Huh???  🤔

Then I see the seller reply asking if they received it or not, and tracking shows it was delivered in 5 business days.

Most bidders wait until the last second.

How do you review the feedback of a last second bidder?

@conservitvs

I was wondering what they do if their bidder has left bad feedback?

Cancel the bids?

If someone bids early and the seller can determine that they have received or left for others negative feedback, could they not be blocked... also early on?

I saw a FB page earlier today flooded with negs and neutrals (and pos w neg comments) left for others because:

- Buyer is under the impression they are buying feedback with their purchase, even though FB is voluntary, and got very upset when sellers did not leave them FB fast enough, or at all.

@wastingtime101

That is one of the nuttiest excuses I've ever read.

On the other hand, people are strange... I can well imagine a small percentage of buyers do in fact want to see their name in a browser window with all sorts of "awards" praising them in one way or another.

I guess that would be intermediate level psych course material.  😁

Those types of feedback give me pause about the buyer and none about the seller.

Another good reason not to use the auto feedback reply function. 😁

j/k

haha That's a vote in support for auto FB, not against. If those sellers used auto FB at payment they wouldn't have gotten any of those negs/neuts from this buyer.

😁I thought you would have gotten a chuckle out of that.

20 year 1000 auctions, most bidders aren't last minute bidders. That's  misinformation.

Seller since 1996. Thousands of auctions.

Most bidders ARE last-minute bidders.

It is not “misinformation.”

Still misinformation, back in the day week long or 10 days auctions were KING here, it's what put eBay on the map. Lots of excitement , early bidding, people set their limits, auto outbid new bidders. Maybe you were selling something boring that nobody bid on?

If it appears on the internet, it may be true, it may be false, it may be idiotic or it may be insane.

Feedback is no different from anything else on the internet which is why Ebay does not use it for anything other than screening international sellers from some countries,

Re: Lame buyer negative feedbacks left for sellers

Your asking people that are mostly sellers.  Most sellers likely don't think they deserve negative feedback no matter what the buyer says it is simply not truthful.  We can't look at our own feedback objectively.  Other sellers can look objectively most times, but the seller that receives it likely thinks they didn't deserve it, no matter what it says.

Re: Lame buyer negative feedbacks left for sellers

What gets me are the neutral feedbacks where buyers say something like, "I've not tried the product yet." I've also seen some negatives on other seller's pages where the person indicates "they don't know" (whatever that is supposed to mean) and they've not opened the item yet.

I had a negative a couple of years ago from a lady who bought an iPod charging dock alarm clock combo. This also had a radio, which I did not test. I never mentioned the radio in the listing. The lady got the dock and the radio did not work. She immediately left a negative without reaching out to me first. I contacted her and set things right, because I knew I had overlooked checking the radio. She was kind enough to revise her feedback to positive.

There has probably been once or twice where I thought I deserved a negative and the customer was gracious enough to actually leave a positive because I fixed the mistake quickly. One was when I sent out the wrong item. It was similar to what was ordered, but not the exact item. They were not even angry. They just asked could they send what they got back and get the one they ordered. I told them to keep it, and I priority mailed them what they ordered.

I had a nut case leave me negative a few nights ago. He had ordered ink cartridges, opened them, then realized they were the wrong ones for his printer. He opened a return stating they did not work. While technically true, I suppose, it was because they were the wrong ones for his printer, which he stated in his messages to me.  I had the listing set up to not accept returns, but since he opened it up as item did not work, I had to take the return. I called eBay when I got them back and they advised me to return 50% of his money, report him for abusing the return system, and once that report got reviewed I would be reimbursed the amount of the refund. When he saw that he only got 50% of his money, he filed a claim with eBay, which was closed ten minutes later in my favor. I presume this was an automatic thing. A few days later, I got back what I had refunded him. Fast-forward a couple of weeks and this nut used every character he could in all caps talking about how horrible I am, that I only gave him 50% of his money, etc. I laughed. I made a brief response, then filed an appeal. The feedback was gone within a few minutes. I didn't even get an email from eBay letting me know it had been removed, so I again I guess it was automatically done.

When I buy, I follow what another poster said: I look for common themes. If I see a lot of buyers (relative to the number of orders they've sent) stating their item never came, then that's a red flag for me, especially if that type of thing goes back years. Also, I have seen quite a few sellers outright belittle buyers just for giving what seems like to me genuine criticism. I personally avoid buying from those people. I don't mind cheeky comments from sellers when responding to buyers who may say something like, "The shipping was too high." But if the seller also looks like a nut case, I'm good. I'll give my money to someone else, even if I have to pay more.

Can you explain how you know for sure that "most bidders aren't last minute bidders"?

When I use to buy from auctions, that was the part that was the most fun.  Bidding in the last few seconds of an auction.  It was very common.
