Not sure if this should be on the collectibles or the toy boards, but for sellers looking to diversify and bring in what will be a guaranteed moneymaker, this is huge! LEGO has announced it will be partnering with Pokemon, with the first sets due out sometime in 2026.
Who else is absolutely chuffed about this?
Mods, sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I figured if we can moan and groan about politics and shipping here, a little bit of good news about an very solid sourcing opportunity might make for a nice change of pace.

I suspect these will be very expensive "adult" Lego sets. They will not be competition for the kids Mega Blocks.
Next year is Pokemon's 30th anniversary. These will be marketed to 40yo's. They will also be INCREDIBLY popular. The Pokemon market right now is straight FIRE and won't slow down until after next year. This kind of thing has every possibility of selling out in seconds and going for 2-3x the day of release.
So yeah, if you've got a source for Lego, get AS MANY AS YOU CAN!

Mattel owns MEGA Construx, and currently has the license for the Pokemon buildable sets. The key thing here is the collectability of both LEGO and Pokemon. The MEGA sets are fun to build, my son and I have done several, but they're not especially collectible. If I were a betting woman, I would wager that LEGO is going to be gearing their Pokemon sets to their adult audience first and foremost, like they have with their LoTR and Zelda sets (as well as a huge number of Star Wars sets), and then kids secondarily.
There are lots of fun, cool buildable toy sets made for both MEGA and NANO, but none of them flip like LEGO on the secondary market.
To get a clearer idea of why this is going to be a great opportunity, compare the sold prices for LEGO with any other block toy system and then add to the equation that Pokemon is currently the single biggest money making toy/collectible/card company in the world right now.

That might be to late, China will have theirs out next month.

Won't make a difference. LEGO is LEGO, and Pokemon is Pokemon. China can make as many fakes as it likes, it won't matter.

Yea that's for sure.

Just like what happened when Lego collaborated with Star Wars.

Exactly! But likely even bigger.

Nothing much Pokemon had the deal with Megablox(Mattel's version of LEGO competition) and that was just ok sales. I see it doing much a bit better. I collect both and I dont see it as omg hype.
