I have been selling on EBay for quite a while now. I just don't understand how so many people have so many problems on here. Follow the rules accept the changes and move on. Everything is pretty much cut and dry. Ebay will get their cut and if you follow the rules you will get yours.

What gets me, So many posters can't imagine a world where ebay sellers are happily selling items,
Making a nice profit, And having little or no issues with their buyers.

eBay desk just gave me a reference number to provide after the bug gets fixeed so I don't get my ratings dinged.

I guess this seller hasn't had any false claims opened up and have eBay hold your hand through the process only to still be burned. And pay shipping both ways for it.

It also depends on what you sell, how many listings you have/sell etc. I have been selling on ebay since 1998. Have experiences virtually none of the problems many have. One reason is that I sell antique prints, cheaters can't do much with these types of items, e.g. steal and resell etc. Most of my buyers are just genuinely interested in what they are buying. I don't sell much these days, but if you sell hundreds items per day/week, then a chance for problems increases.
In terms of technical ebay issues, my rule has been, virtually since day one, never accept ebay invitation to try their new and "improved" features. I only came on board when forced to do so. This way, I am sure, I avoided tons of problems.

@dynamitedw "Ebay envelope is insured up to 20 dollars..."
Which shipping service are you referring to in this statement?

Ebay Standard Envelope Service

It's quite obvious you've never dealt with buyer fraud that ebay promptly aids and abets happening or problems dealing with the (lack of) ebay support or a whole host of other things. When it happens (and it will, it's happened 3 times to me so far) you'll change your tune very quickly.

@johnrj1226 THANK YOU so much for the link! I've never heard of this service (Ebay Standard Envelope Service), most likely because I don't deal in items 3oz or less, but hey, if I ever do, then this is the way to go.

One thing I feel we all need to keep in mind when reading let alone replying to other users posts, is that yes although many of us are all under the same eBay America umbrella but, eBay is segmented broken down into different sections or areas across the US. So someones experiences from like where I am up in the Seattle area will likely not be the exact same as someone in Alabama or something. Ebay rolls things out to different areas at different times, with some areas becoming the ginny pig of various change-outs.
In the end I am on the boat that believes there's a Big problem not within the platform we use to create income. But eBay is definitely not 100% to blame for current lows or slows in sales because all e-commerce is down across the board. However I fully believe that even when many buyers are essentially broke, people love to "Window Shop" looking at items of interest and following those waiting for the day when they find themselves with a little extra funds again. And since what's been dubbed the "Views Update" supposedly nearly all interested buyers have seemingly fallen off the globe, which I do not believe for a second.
And I think that it's naive to just go along with things, the changes that are affecting our business of which I personally rely quite heavily on. And It makes me sick the current user base seemingly wasn't even thought of when it comes to how the changes would affect us, versus new users who came to the platform. But in the end I do agree that many people are not taking the time to educate themselves before launching complaints and if anything the last 6 months or so have at least shown me that I need to take more of my e-commerce business dealings into my own hands if I don't like what's happening.

Agreed, most people that complain about sales, fee's, policy etc... are selling stuff that people don't want, have horrible listings, don't put in the time or effort and aren't consistent at all. It's simple. Sell good items, give the customer a great day, have good customers service & deliver quickly. Been doing it almost 3 years now and have continued to grow each and every year with no issues.

Believe it or not 97% of the seller population has very little problems with Ebay. Most people who do not like something or have problems come here.

@the-hook-and-the-loop The only way that would happen is if the seller did not follow the directions in the case or was just plain hardheaded and refused the return regardless of what Ebay told them.

So I can only speak for myself & my personal experience but, I have items that sold roughly 100+ of In roughly 2 years or less that one day seemingly went underground as in the listing, either that or all possibly interested parties have vanished. Yes of course there's competition in some of the cases but others there is not. But even when there's competition, my items are not being shown the same with all the same search results, like a buyer in Maine for example using the identical search keywords and whatnot, they are very likely seeing a different mix of items as I am over here on the west coast not to mention a different group of sellers. But I have too many items that went from selling regularly to barely if any at all in the last 2 years with no obvious reason as to why because I price accordingly, and if it seems I'm not I guarantee my items are gonna be higher quality in most cases. I also provided good pictures and condition descriptions if the item is preowned.

Correction** Sentence is supposed to say "I'm on the boat that believes THERE IS A BIG PROBLEM within the platform"
