Item switch in mail

I've been on E-Bay a lot of years. This is the weirdest one I've had. I shipped a pair of cowboy boot across country and the buyer received someones prescription from CVS that came from my town. somehow my boots label was removed and attached to this prescription order. now I get a refund from ebay for over paying for shipping, ofcourse boots are heavy. now I'm out the boots have to refund. anyone ever happen something like this happen.  At first I thought buyer was scaming me but picture he send of box was not mine and package from CVS is right around the corner from my house. inside job at post office?

Was the boots’ destination a residence or a  mailing hub, such as the eBay International Shipping hub in Illinois?

Do you think buyer did it?

I can see no one interested in doing such a thing.

You'll need to refund the buyer since you have no clue where the boots went.

Did you personally drop the package at the p.o. and get an acceptance scan? Did you personally package the item and put the label on the package?

In trying to figure out how this could happen, I have come up with a possibility.

If you and another customer came into the post office at the same time, both using QR codes for the clerk to attach to packages, is it possible that the clerk might have put the wrong labels on the wrong packages?

Alhtough this seems to be the only possibility, personally, based on my own experience with QR code label printouts, I can't see it happening. When they scan my QR code, the label immediately goes onto the package I've handed over and once attached, they don't let the customer touch the package. (I learned this when I reached over to press down the label when I saw a corner that was loose. I didn't want the label to fall off.)

So if another customer comes in after me with a QR code, there's no way (IMO) for their label to be attached to my package.

Maybe someone else has another idea of how it might happen.

Contact the resident near your house and ask them if they received a box of boots.

There have been odd but true things happen here but, your right, this is a doozy.  You should contact CVS and let them know where their pills ended up.      Too complex to be a scam.

This is another one for the odd but true  files of eBay.

It happens. I had it happen. Ordered some nice bed sheets and received a little black cocktail type dress. On inspection it was obvious the label had been torn off the package and mine attached.

All the hubs have people that their only job is to match empty boxes with lost contents and match loose labels with boxes with no labels etc.. sometimes, well they arnt so careful and just slap things together to clear their area.

Which is why I bag all my items (I buy bags by the roll) with the packing slip and tape it closed. My labels are glued and taped on. If the box comes apart and the contents fall out, everything they need to get it headed back to my buyer is in the bag. Plus if the box gets left in the rain the contents stay dry.

This is indeed a strange one and there are a couple of issues here. The first is the incorrect delivery of the drugs which would also be a major concern to CVS and potentially life threating. The other is where your boots went or didn't go. I would go to the CVS with the information you have including the pictures of the prescription number and person's name and other information from the bottle. CVS should be able to pull up the label information for the prescription as to where it should have actually gone, which is probably someplace local in your town.

If the labels were actually accidently switched, and CVS will provide you with the tracking information from the label that was supposed to be on the prescription, you can check with the USPS on where that item actually went if it in fact was delivered. If it was delivered contact that individual to see if they got your boots when they were expecting the prescription. They are likely in your town somewhere and you may be able to recover the boots.

I do my own labels and attach them, stick on type that don't come off very easy. handed my my mail lady. she remembers picking it up on Saturday. She told me they also pick up CVS but that pick up was on Wednesday earlier that week. I'm waiting for return of CVS item then I'll refund.

What are your shipping procedures?

Buy a printed label and set it on your porch for pick-up?

Do you deliver package to the USPS and get a receipt or just drop and run? Receipt will show weight.

What does your tracking show on the USPS website?

Did you do a drop ship at your local CVS? I thought that was only a UPS and / or FedEx thing.?

your comment: At first I thought buyer was scaming me but picture he send of box was not mine and package from CVS is right around the corner from my house.

Not sure that means anything per buyer's claim. A box is a box. What did they try to provide to show it can from your local CVS?

Let us all thing about this to help all sellers!

You stated you shipped across country, but this buyer claims they received a CVS prescription from a store near you. That seems impossible!

I have some thoughts, but do not want to share right now on an open post. No need to feed the scammers!

Did you ever entertain looking at your buyer's profile, feedback, and Google Map the address?

If you think this is an inside USPS issue, go to your post office with all the proof . information you have collected. You may need to make an appointment. The USPS works just like the FBI. They address everything seriously.
