I sold an item to a buyer (toner cartridge). Prior to it being delivered, he asks me to leave feedback. I said I would leave it after it was delivered. While the item is in transit he files a return for "item not described" (it was in transit). I called 7 times, spoke supervisors in the resolution dept all telling me the case would be decided in my favor, buyers remorse, invalid return reason (I got reference numbers) and his actions were feedback extortion (which I reported him for). This morning, the day I could "ask eBay to step in", the buyer calls eBay first. They side with him. I received a defect.
I called the appeals dept. They said there is nothing they can do, but once the item is delivered, the case would be reversed. At this point, I have zero faith in this ludricious case being reversed. What else could I have done? Has anyone experienced such an insane situation?

@2013fitzpHave you seen this thread? https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Return-requested-today-because-buyer-changed-his-mind/m-p/2822...
Its long but.......another terrible injustice IMHO 😞

I'm relieved you understood it as I did. Since you and I (and perhaps others in the community) seem to be on the same page. Once I get that damned toner back, I will be following up with everyone to let them know what happened and appeal to others to aid me with Trinton or other reps should this not be resolved as promised.
I truly cannot thank you all for your support and interest in this. I'm sure we all have similar concerns and dealings with ebay, and to protect and support one another from injustices is important.
Please let us know how many more HOURS it takes you to resolve this after the toner comes back.

Oh my god!!! Is there a manual for the dysfunction/sliding scales?? I suppose in a nut shell, buyers can claim whatever they want, practice extortion and eBay will rule in their favor.... regardless of “policy”. I’m sick and no longer confident my hours on the phone and hours on this thread today will yield my case being resolved.

I'm a eternal optimist I know eactly whats going to happen, but prefer to be optimistic about the outcome and ebay has yet to ever fail me....

@2013fitzp I really hope that buyer doesn't return their old empty toner cartridge. Hoping this all works out for ya, buddy.

Here is the message the buyer sent me the day I shipped the item out:
"When I complete my end of the transaction, I've earned Positive Feedback (or not) - there's nothing I can do at that point to change that feedback! I completed the purchase immediately, it's earned. I do understand that we don't HAVE to participate in eBay's Feedback Program; I'm merely suggesting that you should disclose your choice to not fully participate so that customers can make an informed buying decision and choose to not purchase from you. Since you did not disclose your choice in your listing, it's "Not As Described" and eligible for a return with full refund.
The return's already been started; please issue a full refund once you receive the toner back"
I would have at that point replied back with, "And now you see why it is common for sellers to wait for the transaction to be complete before posting feedback."

Think in a case like this The system has to do what the system does by siding with the buyer, then all the details gets worked out after this happens. Really convoluted. The buyer still can return this item if they want to regardless of what transpired prior to them receiving it. They could just a well say NAD after they receive it or prior to receiving it. Really, they should not have the OPTION to call it NAD before they receive it.

Hey community- me again... I cancelled the "solution"... alas, calling ebay tonight to ensure trinton@ebay 's promise to me that the information he added in this thread to the case would be in ebay's system was incorrect. They have no record of this discussion nor his "promise" to me that the appeal would be found in my favor upon delivery of the item. I do have 2 more reference numbers from tonights conversations with the appeals dept supervisor and resolution dept, but I am not allowed to add them to the thread.
The only reason I continue to harp on this is because no matter what dept, no matter whom you speak with and no matter how many times you try, its the same answer: sorry, we see it your way but we cannot make a decision in your favor.... please continue to wait and we have no record of trinton@ebay communication with you. two more hours logged tonight, I'm up to 9 hours on the phone since the return was filed on Thursday. This is a $40 item. I fought for the principle of the matter.... I'm an idiot that should have refunded and moved on.... wine makes that **bleep** hold music tolerable, though lol!
