It seems like every week there is a new bug in the system and ebay has no answers !

A couple months ago it was pictures being deleted after GTC listings were renewed. Of course, there was no way to get them back and sellers had to waste an inordinate amount of time either uploading them again or having to take new pictures.

This past week the transition to the new categories in clothing and accessories was a complete disaster.  Items were being placed in the wrong categories and if you changed it to the correct category, you lost items specifics.

Yesterday I noticed (and I can't say for sure if this was related to the category issue) that more pictures were deleted. Had many listings, all of which were variations, where only the gallery picture was displayed. All the variation pictures were deleted. Another wasted day of having to upload more pictures.

The best for last ! Just got off the phone with ebay and it seems like listings become corrupted after 6 months to a year. The standard response they give is that it's like making a photo copy. If you keep making a copy of the copy, it will lose resolution. Every time a listing gets relisted, there is a chance the file gets corrupted. I have many variation listings and the quantity I have available isn't being displayed correctly. In fact, it's a disaster. Case in point, item #302500345367. I have 7 shirts available. The listing shows I have 1 left, but the "sponsored" listing shows 7 available. How is it that the listing is corrupted, but the sponsored listing works fine ?

Their solution is not to relist the item, but to create a new listing from scratch. So now instead of running my business, I have to spend my time dealing with this all because ebay can't find engineers who know what they are doing.

I pay around 40K a year in fees and all I get in return is a big slap in the face.  Sorry, but an apology doesn't do me any good.  Time to start looking at other platforms.

"It seems like every week there is a new bug in the system and ebay has no answers !"

Just a 2 or 3 questions here.

Is there some reason why you think ebay feels that they owe anybody an 'answer', particularily sellers?

Is there some reason why you feel that ebay will ever provide an answer to any specific question about some problem on ebay?

Are you REALLY expecting an answer - from ebay, not their out-sourced, off-shore CS - to any of your questions?

I will admit, though.  Rants can help make one feel better, at times!

@racingdirect Exactly right! I've basically been saying the same thing you have... but you've explained it much better with your "locked in" words. I've been saying that this glitch has always been here for a long time (a year plus a few months is correct. I have a listing made back then that was affected still because it had no sales). I reported the glitch to eBay when that happened last year. More attention has come to this a month ago because the glitch is combined with what I think is another glitch caused by eBay working on the Most recent seller update (UPC catalog junk) that removed the "lock". And thus chaos ensues.

@gracieallen01 This glitch is pretty significant compared to your many other ones that are on eBay. It can easily cause sellers to get defaults because of lack of variation photos or accidentally uploading the wrong one (since you're repeatedly uploading so many at a time). It's right up there with the Webinterpret fiasco that eBay actually responded to very quickly because that glitch too was significantly affecting sellers by the masses. So why shouldn't ebay respond to this versus keep us in the dark? I don't really care who answers... as long as they have the power to fix this and do so. Have an eBay janitor like Will Hunting break into the development room and change the programming to solve it, I'm still happy.

@bigdeals.etc

I think, perhaps, you didn't read my post the way it was meant.  Smiley Wink

I suppose I could have phrased it that I, personally, don't think ebay feels they owe anybody an explanation for anything - no matter how good, bad or ugly.

Quite frankly, I don't think anybody would want to hear the real reasons, anyway, even if were ebay to put them forth.

It seems like every week there is a new bug in the system...

It seems like eBay has redefined a "week" as having only two days...

Hey I just did some restocking revisions today... and noticed that for some of the listings I restocked, the image removal glitch has been fixed.

Is this fix a fluke, or can anyone confirm this as well in their listings? I don't want to fully trust it yet and start revising my larger variation listings only to have the system remove the photos again.

Also I believe the Bulk revision tool glitch for variation listings is linked to this. Is that one fixed too?

Haha,

well it it really wouldn't matter to me if it was fixed and wasn't confirmed because I won't risk it otherwise. I just ran into it accidentally when I forgot to "re-upload" my photos and realized that I didn't have to for that listing.
