I posted a couple of days ago about a microscope that I sold being returned with missing parts. I withheld $250 from the refund and expected Ebay to take the buyer's part and make me pay the $250. It seems my expectation was wrong. Ebay refunded the buyer $250 apparently at no cost to me. I am surprised but wanted to set the record straight. Thanks to all who replied to my post

You were able to reduce your refund amount? If so, it sounds like you took advantage of the TRS protections mentioned to you in your last thread for the faulty return.

Too bad that a thieving buyer was refunded in full.
At least it didn't come out of the seller's hide, and the buyer is probably now on eBay radar. A courtesy refund of $250 isn't small change.

You have an outstanding sales history on eBay with perfect feedback over nearly 24 years.
Seems that eBay does something right, on occasion. Congrats.
