So a few years ago, eBay decided to stop me from selling because, for no reason, my bank account I ALWAYS used to get payments or pay for items from was no longer "verified". Oh, they can TAKE my money out to buy things, but won't let me have buyer's money go into it.
Now I just got an email saying my account's "restricted" (whatever that means, they had already stopped me from selling), so I followed their link.
NOPE, they STILL say my bank is no good. WHY. It's only issued from the LARGEST RETAILER IN THE USA.
I mean come on, just give me my money already.

THey had no problem at all with my East Podunk credit union account. I think there may be four branches total, and that went through easy peasy.

"BOA is used by some. Seems to be some sort of a "localized" thing with that, or perhaps now that, to quote eBay, "eBay, and BOA do not see eye to eye".
"Have seen posts where some claim that they are using Chime for eBay MP deposits."
Yes me too..dont get it.

Okay, so Chime is both accepted and unaccepted.
Bank of America is both accepted and unaccepted.
Citibank is both free and yet actually costs money.
...You're see the complexity in this, yes?

So in your sellers hub under payments are you seeing funds that are available ???
I use a, not that big, regional Credit Union. They let me have a second checking account just for eBay, for free. eBay accepted it as OK for Managed Payments.
Paperless account. I use no checks. ACH deposits, and then I transfer most out just keeping a cushion for cancels/refunds/charge backs that might have to come from there while I am playing it slow.

I just went to a local credit union and opened a free checking account. There is no minimum limit, no fees, and my ebay payments clear in under 24 hours. I am sure there are hundreds of banks and CU's that will work fairly well. Is there more to this? Is your "bank" Walmart or perchance?

Yes, exactly. There are funds in there from things I sold almost 2 years ago.

Why yes, it is. You know, a GIANT company employing thousands who all use the same bank?
Why... did eBay have a falling out with them too or something?

Interesting, do they say why BoA isn't accepted?

We've read of it happening in different areas (states?), but I can't say which ones. In Tennessee, mine works fine.
ETA: No... I've never heard the 'why'. 🤔

Other than on one thread I have seen no posts that have the "why". eBay CSR just tell the person that they do not see "eye to eye", and I don't remember what that post said.

What Walmart offers in the way of financial services is NOT a bank, sometime in the future it might become a bank or just like their previous attempt to offer quasi-banking services fade away into oblivion.

I've read several posts with the "do not see eye to eye" reference, but missed the one that defined the 'why'.
I never could figure out the "eye to eye" reference, either... but that was the one constant of the threads that I remember.

If Ebay took your money years ago, they don't have it now. By law, they have to turn over any money that they seize like this to the seller's home state. It goes to the state and then there is a time limit for the owner to claim this lost revenue. Hopefully, it's not too late.
If you plan on selling again, open up a new bank account. It's not rock science.

It might not be rocket science, or even rock science... but as you can see from the posts in here, even seasoned veterans are having trouble jiving with each other on what bank will do what.
I know one thing i'm not going to do... Open up account after account at different banks HOPING one of them will eventually be "verified" by stupid eBay.
