Issue with buyer

So I recently had to cancel a sale because the buyer messaged the next day "I didn't immediately pay for my item not to ship. You're slow". Went on how they are a top rated seller etc. I have my handing time set for 2 days, it wasn't even 24hrs.

From that I canceled his order because I took it as an unreasonable demand and he was not happy with the transaction. (Also Blocked them) They left negative feedback which Ebay will not remove. That is not the issue.

The issue is. Same item on relisted auction, one week later. The winning bidder has the same last name and the address is within 5min of each other. Obviously relative or even the same person. What can I do to cancel this order without getting negative feedback? Especially feedback that cannot be removed again? I called CS and they were no help at all.

They are going to do the same thing if I cancel even with issue with the buyers shipping address.

You cancelled a paid order because they called you slow. 🤔

I think that is an overreaction.

You might be able to get it removed. You might not.

If it is the same person then you report them policy violation as circumventing the BBL is a policy violation.

However feedback removal is too unpredictable to give you a definitive answer that they will remove negative feedback.

"I regret you are unhappy with our transaction . Your purchase has been shipped 32/2/24 . I am willing to refund after delivery if you would return the item. "

Use both as a response to the buyer and to the Feedback.

or

"I regret you are unhappy with our transaction. Normally we ship within two business days. Since the purchase is not yet in the mail, I am willing to cancel and refund."

The second allows you to cancel at Buyer Request, which has no penalty for you.

First of all, it wasn't a demand.

It was a comment.

What did you use for the reason for canceling to order?

"My feelings were hurt"?

Sorry, I disagree with your actions.

"Hey there, buyer - I ship within two days - let me know if that's too long and I can cancel your order for you.

- Unruffled seller"

eBay needs to be clearer about when sellers ship - sure, the handling time is in shipping details, but many buyers may not know where to find it.

Great move - you just earned a defect on your selling performance ratings by cancelling a paid for order.  The defect will show up around the 20th of next month for this months performance that is when eBay does seller evaluations.

"til then Sleep Tight.

One more thing - you also lost the profit from the sale too.  Wouldn't do that too many times, could  end your eBay selling career indefinitely.

BTW  A negative Feedback  has zero effect on your sellers rating - it used   several years ago and they disappear after off your FB rating in 365 or 366 days.

For what it is worth - the buyer was probably comparing your customer service  level to how Amazon does it - guess sellers  need to keep up  with the Big Dog the best they can.  Always had a 1 day shipping time  always made  that happen  by  having a USPS scan by  our PO or USPS carrier even on a Saturdays and  often would ship the same day - buyers  like that very much and stated it in there FB.replies.

Well, very sorry you encountered a pushy buyer, @shawn_mcentee .

So, you blocked him. That is about the extent of what you can do at this point.  (I would have also considered waiting before relisting the item in question.)

We sellers must exercise caution. As you are likely aware, seller-initiated cancellations are an eBay cardinal sin. If you now cancel another sale without buyer request, you are at risk for another defect. (I am assuming you took responsibility for the cancellation reason as out-of-stock on the first sale. Since the other reasons would have been unethical.)

Your response to the buyer’s message was rude. He admits he was as well. But it’s our job to bring the temperature down when encountering an upset customer, not enflame it. Not to trade insults. And it’s concerning that the buyer also specifically stated, on the record, he did not want a cancellation. Yet, you canceled anyway. That’s now on your head.

Oh, a wrinkle appears.
Checked your completed listing because of the buyer’s assertion in his feedback response that the listing did not state a 2 day handling time. Indeed, your listing in question has no mention of it. I am using the app and looked on both my tablet and iPhone. There is no data at all regarding your handling time. Checked some of your current listings for it. Some document 2 day handling but others do not. That puts a different light on the matter.

Now it becomes a customer service concern. The buyer contacted you upset, after noting that the item had not yet shipped. The customer’s expectations now appear more realistic, and he expressed his disappointment that they were not met. The matter ceases to be an unreasonable buyer unfairly complaining. (Not to say that he was in the right in every way, he wasn’t, and he should have discussed upfront that he needed the item asap.)

But the focus of the problem now shifts towards you as the seller being accountable for the information in your listings. There is no telling how the info was missing from your listing, eBay glitch perhaps, more so than user error. But that fact does not relieve you from the obligation to the buyer. The buck stops here.

It can take awhile to build up a tough skin. I’d urge you to work on that cuz it is not easy dealing with the buying public. However, every trial is a learning and growing opportunity. You are a wonderful and successful seller with all kinds of glowing feedback from your shoppers. Don’t let the one pushy one get you down. Hang in there!

Where have all the adults gone? Is it that difficult to explain that you have two day handling, and that the item will be mailed out on X day?

In your listings I see no handling time, 1 day and 2 day. Why do you have different handling times?

I guess the buyer figured they pay you jump.

A).  You badly overreacted.

B). No where on that listing does it say 2 day handling time.

I did not see that your buyer demanded anything. He simply complained that you were slow.

Unfortunately I think your response escalated the situation unnecessarily. I would have played on his statement about being a Top Rated Seller and replied with something like this:

"Dear buyer,

As a Top Rated Seller, you obviously know that sellers must state their handling time (same day, 1 day, 2 days, 5 days, etc). And I'm sure you also share my frustration that eBay no longer makes our shipping time selection clear to the buyer.

Due to my time constraints, my handling time has always been 2 days. I'm sorry you were misled by eBay into think my handling time was 1 day. Please rest assured that your item will be shipped by XXX which is within my stated handling time of 2 days.

Sincerely, your seller"

Listings do NOT state until you do 5 days

@shawn_mcentee you put yourself between a rock and .............

I would just 'ship' as you are going to get a neg anyway, but you can 'respond' in a professional way and you will NOT get a defect and you WILL make some $$ and that is what you are even here for.

 Cancel and Don't Ship

-1 (get neg)

-1 (ebay slaps, could even ban you)

-1 (make no $$)

Ship

-1 (get neg)

+1 no ebay slap

+5 make $$ !!
