I usually list DVDs at the lowest price reported when creating a new listing and this particular Apocalypto DVD being a popular item "usually" sold within the first 2-5 days. I have now had this DVD listed for over 30 days and just had to renew the listing when I did I did an advanced search for the SOLD listing and discovered something very interesting. FYI - I use to sell this particular DVD for more than $10+ just a month or two ago. I'm not sure if the attached screen shot worked but it shows over the last 4-6 weeks that the price of this DVD has steadily decreased from $10+ to around $5 (the last few sales). OK perhaps there are more of these DVDs available at this time hence the price decline (supply & demand), but it is interesting to note how it has lost 50%+ of it's value in just 2 months (good for buyers bad for sellers).

Oh its the "magical" new GTC policy..Have no doubt about that..
It's the inevitable result of ebay changing over their whole site to a listing duration/type that inherently yields these kind of results: Slowest sales possible, tons of "watchers" yet no buyers, and a race to the bottom on price just to eek out a sale or two..
Without any kind of "urgency" to buy? This site has become exactly what everyone with a brain expected it to become = A place with little to no sale activity, unless you are basically giving everything away, and have thousands upon thousands of each item to "give away" and make $1 profit on each..It's wonderful
If you are Chinese?
This has become a "sellers paradise".
If not? Good luck..
eBay is of the opinion that "china" is their future...And the proof is in the pudding

ebays favorite sellers the "china sellers"? Are probably also selling boot leg copies of your DVD's on here at half the price too..Destroying your legitimate business..
But since ebay "loves" its china low life sellers so much? That's ok with them..
Its "so" ok with them? That they changed the whole site over to accommodate these con artists...
So now its basically "buyer and seller" beware on here...
Again? Simply wonderful

I'm seeing a greater increase
of people wanting to get rid of dvds and blurays
.. because they're starting to view everything, on streaming services.
and it's people my age too... not just young adults.

I remember getting an email about some software that assure you are selling at the lowest price. I can remember thinking how that does no one any good long term. I'm willing to guess that your competition is using that software. I can not imagine why eBay would not want a level playing field, as that is short term thinking IMO.......
On another note, if you sell by price, you die by price. It is hard to find ways to differentiate yourself on eBay.
Maintaining positive feedback is one way.
Good selling

It has nothing to do with GTC. Please do not use that as your excuse for not getting items sold. As a buyer I would not even know there is such a thing as GTC. If see a DVD (bluray) and if it is priced right ($5-9) I purchase. If it is more than $9 I skip it. Very few DVD's are selling and even bluray versions need to be under $10. As the other person posted, DVD's have steadily dropped over the last 5 years or so. The newest thing is streaming and 4K HD DVD's.

Besides the Chinese mega sellers I'm also noticing that the "mega corporate charities" (especially in the Blu-ray/DVD/CD category are benefiting quite well from the GTC change but then again they are eBay's mega sellers so that figures.

Lynn so your saying it's supply and demand?

IMO GTC is not really "designed" to help sellers sell things. As I stated earlier buyers would not even know about it. Since GTC started, it is just being used as a scapegoat for those who are listing items in low demand or over-priced. If a buyer wants a DVD, when they see it at the correct price, they buy it. I didn't mean they don't sell at all. It's just the pool of buyers have dropped (demand).
