Is there any way to get around the eBAY 21 day hold for items over $1,000?

Hi everyone,

I sold an item over $1,000 and am a new seller. The item was delivered about a week ago. eBAY tells me that the "funds are mine" but they won't release the hold on my payment.

Do you guys know of any way I can get these funds sooner? Is there any way to get around the hold? Do I need to contact lawyer?

Thanks for your time!

There is no work around.

It is covered in section 11 of the eBay User Agreement. Don’t waste your time or money on a lawyer.

Don’t forget, PayPal allows 180 days for a buyer to file a claim. Even after the funds are released, the buyer could ask for, and get, his money back later this year.

Ebay wants to make sure any refund comes out of your pocket, not theirs.

I’ve heard that it’s possible to be a large enough seller to get around the 21 day hold, even for items over $999. Has anyone out there experienced this? Thanks.

P.S. the lawyer is a close personal friend, so he would either tell me I’m an idiot or help me out pro bono. Just thought I’d check here first. Thanks.

By the time you got an appointment, explained things, he researched, Ebay would have released the funds..........

Go ahead and throw your money away on a lawyer.

The eBay  user agreement you signed said you agree to abide by the policies.  The policy says payments can be held.

There's no getting around it.  You knew this, or should have known this before you jump in selling.

I have multiple accounts beginning in 99, and have sold some pretty expensive things (2K, 3K, 9K, etc.)

The most recent selling account  I opened held my payments even though I was the same person using the same bank account.  I tried to get them to release funds early but no go. I believe you'll have to ride it out.

Funny!

eBay is implementing the immediate collection of seller fees and getting rid of the monthly payment, BUT the seller is waiting 21 days for $1,000.

Did you ship with signature confirmation?

I do not use this venue for items that meet that criteria. I notice you have nice cards. I would use other venues to sell quality expensive cards. I get why eBay needs to protect themselves but I wish once positive feedback was earned from buyer,  or some other unknown criteria could be established that the buyer is satisfied,  that funds could be released.

Good luck.
