Is there a way to hide my shipping address?

modelcars-us

I am looking to sell something on eBay but I am nervous about people seeing my real address. Is there anyway around this? I'm just weird about people seeing where I live and such. Are there any options for me? I didn't know if there was any options like maybe finding someone to sell it for me and paying them something, or if there were any stores that would upload your stuff for you and sell it, and use their address.

Thanks!

Re: Is there a way to hide my shipping address?

Get a P.O. Box at your local post office and use it for the shipping address. This will work for parcels sent with USPS but not for FedEx shipments (FedEx requires a physical shipping address). You could also get a P.O. Box with a physical shipping address (not a P.O. Box number) at your local mail services center like Mail Boxes Etc. or Postal Annex if you want to ship FedEx. Your buyers won't see where you live on the internet and shipping label and the P.O. Box will serve as the return shipping address. The only people who could get your physical address from the Post Office or mail services center would be law enforcement or someone with a court order.

whole mess with this post says scammer. Just saying folks.

Again if answering an add for a seller: never give out any information that can be used to set you up: such as credit information, etc....

You are aware that any USPS office will require a return address on the package, just in case there is some problem and the PO has to return it to you?

If you see this as a problem, you can rent a PO box.

Re: Is there a way to hide my shipping address?

Frankly, I would be somewhat reluctant to buy anything from a seller attempting to hide their address.

How would a buyer determine that a seller was attempting to hide their address prior to purchasing from them?

It would be fairly easy if they post about it on the boards. 😉

If I were you, I wouldn't be nervous about someone knowing my address. I'd be nervous about selling a graphics card here and being out both the card & money! The scammer will need your address when they return a non working card or even trading cards, once they file item not as described and are required to return something to get their $ back! You can increase the likelihood of being scammed by 1000% when buyers see your a newbie seller!! YOU MAY AS WELL HAVE A TARGET ON YOUR BACK!

Heed the advice of others-----DO NOT SELL THAT CARD HERE!!! YOU WILL LIKELY REGRET IT!!

Re: Is there a way to hide my shipping address?

Just buy your postage in person, and don't write a return address on the package.

You're being paranoid, though - selling on and off for 20 years and no one's shown up my door yet. LOL.

for all the people telling you that you are paranoid, do not listen to them at all, I never even knew that my information was on display until some guy was very rude to me from my listing so naturally I was rude back.

He then sent me a picture of my house and said he would come and kill me.

You have every right to be scared and I am currently trying to rent a PO box

The buyer can always request your contact info from eBay.  So, you can't hide selling here.

Rent a PMB, not a PO Box.

But yes, there are some weirdos on here that will google/zillow all their buyer's addresses. Some have even posted on it here as a reason why they don't trust the buyer (house value too low)...true story.

It’s not weird at all to keep your private information safe from people you don’t know.

Re: Is there a way to hide my shipping address?

Ebay demands a physical address and will then ship your 1099 there leaving it blowing in the wind on the side of the road even though it is not a mailing address.

I know from experience.

Use a magic marker & cross it out on the shipping label

That won't work.  USPS requires a return address. The sender can use a PO Box for that return address.
