Is it still possible to obtain a user's actual name?

A purchase was made and paid for. We shipped, they received. Then I get a note from the recipient saying they didn’t order it. This time of year we get a lot of “ship to a friend” orders. I am amazed at how many people do not tell the recipient they have a gift coming.

I asked to verify their user name and it does not match the user name on the order.

There used to be a way to look up the info on a user name. The idea is if I can get the name then maybe the recipient will recognize it and that will be the end of.

Anyone know if that function still exists?

Well they are still asking for a name. I suppose, in light of your suggesion, I'll just tell them it was from a "Secret Santa". There's a lot of that going around.

Thanks to all who answered.

Why not just email your buyer in Ebay of course and ask them?  You can simply let your buyer know that the address they had you send it to is confused as they don't know who the gift came from.

I'm not sure why this wasn't your starting point.  Just contact your buyer and ask.

Are you familiar with Kali Linux exploits and Wire Shark?

You can find details about a particular user if you know what to focus on.

Why?  Especially this time of year buyers have us frequently ship to addresses of whomever they want to send a gift to.  Definitely not unusual.  The OP just didn't ask the buyer they sold to about it.  That is all they need to do and it will likely solve the mystery.
