Is it possible to have a negative feedback removed?

I listed an item with the incorrect price and the item was barley even up for 24 hours before it sold. When it sold I noticed my mistake and immediately refunded/messaged the buyer. I offered them something else for free as compensation and they said no thank you. A month later they left me negative feedback even thought I refunded/messaged minutes from their purchase. Is there anything I can do to remove this feedback? I don't want this negative feedback for all of next year now because I forgot to add a 1  to my total 😞

That's the best way to look at it. I may have done the same thing as you, and I'd be prepared to pay a price for doing it.

Re: Is it possible to have a negative feedback removed?

Thanks for the information everyone. I have been selling on eBay for years and this was my first mistake and negative feedback, so I wasn't sure what to do.

If I received this negative feedback in December will it be visible to all until next year December?

I will try asking the buyer if he'll change it to at least neutral, but I doubt that will work. I can see why they're mad, they didn't get their too good to be true price 🙃

Re: Is it possible to have a negative feedback removed?

As others have explained, the buyer had a negative experience and thus his/her FB left reflected that.

Exactly what reason did you use for your cancellation?

eBay will not remove that feedback.

You disappointed a buyer and failed to deliver what you promised.

What would be the point of a feedback system if sellers could remove feedback just because they didn't like it?

You say you offered the buyer something else for free as compensation - why not simply send them the item they bought instead?

No I listed an item for $80 instead of $180 by mistake.

But had you lived up to the listing, owned and followed through even though it was a mistake and sold the item for $80, the education you got about proofreading before hitting the "list" button would have been invaluable. And it would have been a mistake you'd never make again.

Not sure if this will help you in your situation but I've had negative feedback removed before, however it took the assistance of the buyer.  In my case the buyer made the mistake of leaving the negative feedback.  I reached out to the buyer and asked for an explanation and there is a process for the buyer to initiate the negative feedback being removed.

In your specific case it seems as though the buyer has made their decision to leave you negative feedback based on their interaction.

You  may be able to reach back out to the buyer and beg forgiveness but in all reality 1 negative feedback is not the end of the world.  Just maximize your customer service going forward and bury that negative feedback under tons of positive feedback!  😜

You don't need Ebay to be involved if your buyer is agreeing to revising, deleting the feedback.  The seller just needs to send the buyer a Feedback Revision form.  The buyer gets an email with a link inside to easily revise their feedback.

Re: Is it possible to have a negative feedback removed?

It's unfortunate, but it's a lesson learned.  the buyer has every right to give you a negative feedback.  I know it was just a mistake, but it was your mistake, not the buyer's mistake.  The best way to have handled this is to have shipped the item with the purchase price you listed.

Re: Is it possible to have a negative feedback removed?

@thepikmin

I have one other suggestion and you may be successful (afterwards) in getting the buyer to agree to revise the feedback.

My suggestion would be to send a message to the buyer to the effect of:
"Dear buyer,

I'm sorry that I erred in listing my item at the wrong price. But since you purchased it fair and square at the price I listed, you shouldn't have to pay for my mistake. I've reconsidered and realize that I should follow through on the sale at the $80 price. You shouldn't have to suffer for my mistake.

If you still want the item, I will sell it to you at that price.

I've certainly learned my lesson: Proofread before posting!

Sincerely,

Seller"

If the buyer agrees, you should relist as a private listing but without pictures and description of the actual item. (You don't want another buyer to snatch it!)

Once the buyer receives it, you can email and ask if they'd consider a feedback revision.

Not at all - you earned a hickey on your seller performance ratings.  You don't want to do it again  within the next  365  daysr.  Too many in a year  eBay will show you the exit door.  The  buyer  may show their feeling in a non positive FB too.

I would suggest a full listing at the intended price (or higher) but with Make Offer enabled. Let the buyer offer the agreed price and then accept it. That way if the buyer ghosts you or at least does not respond within a week or so you can lower the price to the desired number and someone else may grab it.

Over in my selling account I had one item that I thought I might have priced a little too high although it had something like 6 watchers on it. As soon as I lowered it a few bucks to a number I thought was more consistent with the competition it sold in less than 24 hours.

That's a MUCH better idea @itsjustasprain .

@thepikmin should list at $180 as intended and only accept a b.o. of $80 from the original buyer.

Why didn't I think of that!

The negative feedback will be visible forever.  But next December it will disappear from that box at the top of your feedback page which shows your 12-month feedback history, and it will no longer affect your feedback percentage.

It doesn't hurt to ask the buyer if they will consider a feedback revision; the worst that can happen is that the buyer will refuse, or ignore it. You'd have to send them a very creative apology if you want to inspire them to revise. Sellers only get 5 feedback revision requests per year, but there's no reason for you to hesitate to use one up one of yours even if your chances of getting a revision are slim, since (1) the year is almost over; and (2) it's mighty unlikely that you'll be getting more negs anytime soon.

By not living up to the listing and getting the negative feedback, it will be like getting a continuing education for a whole year.

Saved a $100 and will get a one year reminder to proofread your listings.  That's a win win.
