Is it okay if I send a text message to a buyer? If they don’t reply to my messages on ebay

So, I sold something, but seller chose Local pickup, but they live a bit far (about 2 hours from my town), I messaged them if they're planning to come pick up, otherwise I need payment for shipping. I can't ship for free, my profit would be very little... 😞 I am waiting for them to answer... But in the details i see their phone number, would it be okay if i text them about this? If i don’t hear back in the next hours… thanks

I would send a polite text just to be safe. I don't see any harm in it and you should at least follow up.

Why wouldn't it be ok?  You have to arrange local pick-up in real time.  The local pick-up payment process is what ebay cares about.  They need to get their cut of the sale.

If the BUYER is not replying to your ebay messages, what makes you think they would reply to a text message?

I would wait 4 days and then cancel sale due to buyer non payment.

Is it the purse? that sold just this morning?

I would give them a couple days before I jumped the gun and started texting them.

Of course. That's why eBay has provided their phone number in the order details.

Just to be clear, they have paid you for the item already, right? I would just wait to hear back from them, if so. If they haven't paid, cancel as Unpaid after four full days have gone by. If it was sold as a Local Pickup Only and they have paid, then I would not cancel prematurely (such as "Problem with address"), and just give them a bit more time to get back to you.

Do local pickups also file to cancel after 4 days? That’s harsh as I would think eBay would give 7 days (because some people just can’t pick up until the weekend).

I would text a really friendly notice… basically same greeting you gave on your first ebay message to them. But don’t sound pushy. Sometimes buyers don’t check eBay messages.

But the buyer already paid. Just for the item

If the OP has unpaid item cancellations set up to kick in automatically if payment has not been received after four days, yes--eBay will cancel it; however, there is an option to exclude specific member ids from the automatic cancellation process. Any seller who has cancellations set to process automatically needs to go into their Preferences page to set that up.

Preferences for items awaiting payment

Be sure to flip the "Automatically cancel unpaid items" toggle to see the options.

Yes that’s it. But i have two days for shipping on all my items, would i get a ding for late shipping? Or with local pickup that gets eliminated? First time this happens to me, i have never had a pickup order before. Thanks

It wasn’t pickup only, it had shipping option too. Yes they have paid already. Only the item’s price

I don’t think this applies. Buyer has paid.

I wouldn't text them. Just give them a call and see what their plan is.

Sorry--no--I was responding to bigdeals.etc's question he presented in his Message #6, not to your posts. 😁

It can be helpful having those text for documentation purposes, though, just in case.
