Is eBay going downhill lately or is it only my perception?

I've been with eBay since 1999 and have seen many changes and stayed through it all.

However, three things are really getting to me the last few years and eBay just doesn't seem to give a F about it.

1) Since this new few schedule has been in place, it's rather clunky and fees are usually too much - though I read the schedule of them.  Many times, the shipping cost gets taken along with a percent of what the item sold for, do I have to eat the cost of shipping many times and I cannot get to use a discounted rate more often than not.  Thus, I'd be lucky to end up with 50% of what the item sold for in my pocket.

2) Getting rid of PayPal (again) was a dumb thing from eBay; but when they were together and a seller had to pay two separate fees, wouldn't that be considered double-dipping?

3) There are a few sellers I've come across here and reported them but eBay won't do anything about it and when I ask for a follow-up, Im told they cannot do that because it violates everyone's privacy...and they wouldn't even comment on the suspicious nature of one particular seller; including the outrageous prices on their items.

Yes, there are more aggravating things on my list.

It really seems all eBay cares about is the money anymore.

eBay will be gone at this rate.  
When you chase money you end up broke.  Short term ideas work for that: short term.

Just go to the Listing page and tell me the new functionality has any brain.

A huge decline started for me in the fall of 2021.  Aside from 1 decent month (July 2022), almost all of the months have shown me sales in the single digits.  I do not see any improvement within sight.  Going from an average of 15-20 sales per week to less than 10 a month on a steady basis?  Something is seriously wrong.

We are NOT so lucky here in Arizona as our gas prices are between 4.75 to 4.99 a gallon which translates to everything higher sold in stores here.  What state are you in ? Very curious

I have been selling for a long time, It is not about integrity, honesty, Good selling practices and feedback.. Ebays bottom line is money! They continue to remove negative feedback from slimeball sellers from china with usa addresses.. I have been following one of them and I am at 126 negative feedbacks removed for that seller.. they have 100% perfect feedback going back years but I started counting their feedback removed about 1 1/2 years ago.

I have been calining ebay for years and years telling them if they don't do something about their reputation where sellers have integrity and honesty, they will lose buyers and buyers to be held accountable.  Well, now they removebad  sellers negative feedback no matter what is left and why, I have been watching on seller for over a year, feedback removed is at 91 since last year.  Last year I orded 17 items from ebay in 1 1/2 months. 11 of those where not as advertised, not described and 4 of those were advertised coming from the USA, when they were not.  If I were a first time ebay buyer I would be greatly dissappointed and probably leave and tell everyone why. Ebay's solution.. "we got your back".  Oh, ebay never makes a mistake.

I totally agree mate. Been a eBay member since 2003. Had 100% feedback and did both buying and selling. Several areas where gone downhill.

1 Fees are getting higher and higher along with pushing promos and offering various ad rates. The charges for global shipping programme are often over double price of item I had sold and the customer complains to me. GSP does not combine postage either

2 New users can set up an account but something and leave negative feedback that does not relate to the sale. For example my item they purchased took weeks to arrive even though they signed for the parcel 7 days after sale. If the complain about and otem but sevetal clear photos are provided with evidence they are just trolling eBay won't do anything about it.Say need to sort out between ourselves even though they have taken fees.

3 Customer service or chat bot central. Spend hours going around In circles then manage to find a path that leads to an agent. The agent just replies with scripted material and end the chat of don't respond lightning fast.

4 keep hold of my funds for weeks with very little reason why. Soneone opens a casr I add tracking day later shows signrd for however they kerp my money for a week. Where is all the eBay users money being kept that's on hold - invrsted maybe? 

I closed down my account of 1000 feed back because 2 troll buyers reduced my rating to 98.8% for two made up reasons. That's 2 out if 1000.I hope the company gets taken over or has a reset  once my stock gone I will be leaving. 

Anyone know a better auction/sales platform?

They ARE awful.... lots if UJ companies have taken customer service back in house. The trainibg they get must be terrible.

Could be pushing you down in listings if not purchase the promo option. I listed several new items and did a quick search when no views. They were showing live but not returning in my search. My suspicion is that they were suppressed to try and get me to add promo.  Try this for yourselves!

Because, collectively, people still think it's possible to make a call and fix every little issue. From the complaint about a seller that called them names, to payment holds and suspended accounts.

Having these help agents gives those that believe paragraph one, some sense of security or of hope.
