I have a potential buyer who has sent me their zip code so I can calculate shipping costs. BUT...I get this message when trying to open his message: The question you are trying to answer is either invalid or older than 90 days. You cannot respond to questions older than 90 days.
He just sent it today! Frustrating. I've closed and reopened, tried accessing in all the areas where I can possibly see messages, but no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks

do you have 2 accounts?
If so, you are trying to access a message under the wrong account....
other than that..just make sure you're logged in again under the right account

It's usually a cookie problem. Just clear Cache/Cookies on whatever device/browser you are using and try again. Should do the trick and let you answer the message.

Only one account. All messages are frozen. One thing I did notice is at the top of the message area, there is a note: We've updated messaging. Try it now. in bold lettering. I can't click on that either, so don't know if it is because ebay has made some changes again.

As a general rule of thumb, it's never a good idea to "try" something that eBay claims they've recently "updated."

@myatticcorners1 This is a bug that's been there for over a year now. Ebay is aware, but still has not been able to fix it. Just access the Message from your email. There's no rhyme or reason. Half the time I get it & the other half I don't, which is why it's been so elusive. I have personally sent screen shots to eBay employees, so I know they're aware.

@myatticcorners1 The 'updated messaging' has nothing to do with this bug. The bug is over a year old. The updates are just a few weeks old & have to do with other things, like being able to report a message. Just access from your email.

@rosszonebricks That is actually what eBay reccomends. Have you personally confirmed if it works? I don't wish to clear my cache/cookies, so not willing to try it.
I have this bug about 30-40% of the time.

Yes, I've experienced this issue before and that was what worked for me.

I have seen the "90 day" thing......but only when I try to access messages from the listing module on the Overview page....... Clicking on that "12" messages as shown. That's never worked from what I can remember.
When I click on My Ebay in the upper right corner and then on messages.........there is no problem.
If you are truly "frozen"......try a different browser to see if that works......if it does, you will probably have to clear cache to get it unfrozen.........tho perhaps someone with more tech knowledge than I can suggest something.

Strange. Been on Ebay for years and have NEVER seen that BUG. My guess is you have computer problems. Try clearing your cache.

Lots of people have reported this bug, it's been on the boards many, many times. Thank you for your input, but I am in IT, so I know what I'm doing & I am well aware of when I have 'computer problems' & when I don't. This is a long time, long known eBay bug. I don't wish for my cache/cookies to be cleared, as I run them very specifically to what I want in a system.

I agree! I just tried to click it to see if something/anything would open. It didn't, so that wasn't the problem.

Thanks, I did contact the buyer via email per your suggestion. I would still like to contact Ebay to let them know that one more person is having issues. Maybe if enough people complain, they will work a little harder to resolve this. First time in many years on Ebay that this problem has arisen for me. It's frustrating. Where do you send a message to their tech department? Not obvious on the Contact us screen.

I've noticed that I have problems seeing messages on my tablet. I get a notice that there is a new message but they aren't in the ebay messages so I just now click on the notice to see them. I started to have problems on the computer as well, so I had to change browsers. Messages do not seem to work with Firefox but do with Chrome. Try switching your browser.
Good luck to you.
