I must have received 3-5 messages from positive standing eBay users in the past 3 days that have told me that when trying to purchase an item from me on Buy It Now it was not letting them complete the transactions, while at the same time I have been getting some orders as well?
Furthermore they are being instructed to contact both eBay and PayPal and are being told by BOTH that they have no idea what the glitch is. In one case 2 eBay reps suggested that I invoice them directly, which I did, and the next day I received a WARNING from eBay not to ever do that again-when I only did it because they instructed me to!
Any help is appreciated!

Hi @flipwedge57, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't given correct information from that Customer Service agent. The warning you received is due to this policy. The warning you received wont have an impact on your account, just be sure to follow that policy going forward. I'll be sure that the agent you spoke with is coached so that they don't give out similar advice to other sellers going forward.
What about the fact that all this came about because the buyers cannot pay? THIS is what I'd be MOST concerned about.
As to the "coaching"... we've seen eBay CSRs seemingly lead sellers by the hand directly into policy violations so many countless times over the last eleven years that I am solidly convinced that this is actually what eBay wants CSRs to do. Despite all the protestations of "additional coaching" they continue to advise in the exact same and very predictable way.

This answers my own question. I've had 2 unpaid BINs in the last 2 days, something I haven't seen before in over 5 years of selling on ebay. It's no wonder sales are drying up.

Exactly. I don't understand why nobody is helping me or answering these questions-doesn't seem right.

I have so far lost 2 sales from this that I know about {likely more that I don't} which would have been just under $1000.00 in revenue and potential future business.

Do you have any more information on the challenges I am having and what sounds like many others are as well?

There is another thread on this same issue on the Payments discussion board. It was started in February but there have been several entries this week. The posts are mostly from very frustrated buyers. Everyone is saying that eBay is stumped and can't figure it out, but they've been able to make purchases with those payment methods elsewhere. So that's exactly what they're doing - going elsewhere!

And there's really no telling how many sellers are losing sales because of this. Just like these boards... very few buyers will go to the trouble to contact the seller, they'll just move on, probably to another site.
How are your promoted listings going to look when there's nothing but cheap Chinese garbage here, ebay? Your extra 5% "penalty" for getting numpty buyers?
And that brings up another theory (or maybe conspiracy theory)… I wonder if these potential buyers have received messages from ebay touting similar items, that happen to be promoted. Were any of the affected listings promoted, OP? Anyone else in the thread with the non payment problem, same question.
I don't think these thoughts are that far fetched. Ebay is doing everything they can to push sellers into promoted listings AND the 5% penalty.

Tell your buyers to contact CS again. That's what Brian said to do so early on in the thread and if he comes back, he'll probably repeat the same thing.
If you want to be proactive you can contact CS yourself to make sure it's not related to your own settings. These are international transactions, correct? Maybe that's creating an issue with the buyer's payment source.
You mentioned that your third buyer bought another item after they couldn't send payment to you. Was that item also shipping from Canada or did they make a domestic purchase?
I think you can figure this out but you'll have to do some thoughtful detective work with your buyers and with CS.

Thank you--I am making some progress and an eBay employee did reply to my concerns and was very nice-which I appreciated very much! I was told that there is some type of technical glitch or glitches that both eBay and PayPal are surely aware of and are working on. It is disheartening to read from different threads and even this one some of the conspiracy etc ideas which I don't think are happening at all-nor do I understand why that make sense at all. I was also told that most users/buyers are not experiencing these problems but many are, but again they are being addressed.
So I guess I will have to be patient here and in my opinion this is not the worst thing in the world-frustrating to both potential buyers and of course sellers, of course. But just hearing from one or two representatives goes a long way and that they have assured me that both eBay and PayPal are aware of this/these issues is certainly re-assuring. I do not see why they wouldn't be doing as much work as they could to fix this as loss of revenue from completed transactions I'm confident is at the top or very very close to the top of importance.
In reality while this has cost it sounds like many people lots of sales, I can't imagine how much this is costing eBay in lost revenue + the number of users who will just abort the site due to difficulties. I don't expect perfection and in reality little {hopefully} bumps like this tend not to ruin the whole road etc
To answer a couple questions-no they were not promoted listings, and was happening both domestic and internationally orders. However at the same time of all of this-some different orders did go through-so it seems like most {hopefully} are not effected. I have faith this will be worked out and likely in a timely manner as I only see this as being bad for EVERYONE.

I'm sure if it has to do with buyers not being able to pay then eBay will place it higher on the priority list.
In the meantime, what about creating a 2nd selling ID? When a buyer has a problem paying you can add the listing to the 2nd ID to see if the buyer is able to purchase that way?
You shouldn't have to go through that extra effort, but if it means completing sales while this technical bug isn't fixed yet, then it may be worth it.

I renewed my store subscription lastmonth. Now have no sales. I was about 2 a day until I renewed my subscription. Now hardly anything. What thieves ebay are today.

Unless your buyers are having the same payment issues as the OP's, you might want to start a thread about that. This thread is about buyers not being able to successfully process a payment for a transaction.

All ebay cares about is GMV. Problem with paying can be bots raising the GMV for ebay. Nothing else really matters to them.
